No, and I also don't think SMB2 is the sequel to SMB. The true sequel is the one released in Japan.

I read an interview where the makers said they consider Super Mario World 2 to belong to the main Mario series. So yes. Anybody voting no is wrong.

I´ve never considered Yoshi´s Island as a Mario game, even having baby Mario on it, the mechanics feel so different for me.

Is there something I'm missing here, or is the question really that simple?

It's a question with a hidden meaning. You have to look really hard and you will find it, you will shit bricks when you get it!

Only heartless bastards don't consider it part of the main Mario series.

imo nope...

o: Well, it`s on the box, so it has to be... In this case, it would be a prequel-sequel.

It's a great platformer and, at the time, what I considered the best platformer on the market but I'm gonna say no. I think it was just a great game with great mechanics and a new technology that had the SMB name pushed on it to garner some attention. If anything, it was the Yoshi platformer that I thought "Yoshi" (Puzzle game) was going to be.

It plays unlike any other Mario game and only the Yoshi sequels play the same. And for the record, I don't think Wario Land is a real sequel to Six Golden Coins. It's the same scenario. A spinoff using the established franchises name.

If the makers of the game consider it a main Mario game, so should we.
