Could the PS5 be entirely built around creating a cheap system designed for Morpheus support? Do you think Sony could market it to be 'the Wii of VR' (the Wii ofcourse having been 'the Wii of motion controls') rather the being 'the Xbone of VR' (the Xbone ofcourse being 'the Xbone of user monitoring interfaces').

I doubt Sony would make such a big mistake. Sure Morpheus will probably be part of the design decisions and maybe they´ll even include it in the basic SKU but they won´t make a "cheap" system (as in totally overpriced) riding solely on VR. The PS5 will be up to the competition in terms of performance Or it will be a streaming only box. I sincerely doubt either MS or Sony will ever try to imitate the Wii model.

Yup...RO friggin rocked

PS2 was 'the next Wii'. The ideal casual machine with a lot of best games of a generation for the hardcore also.

The problem is, they won't build the PS5 off of morpheus, it'll be an add on. I think they have learned a lot from the Xbone with it's initial bundled Kinect (with no option without it).

That basically leads into 2 ways they could go, both of which are VERY risky.

1: They bundle it and say it's part of the experience and stick by that... The problem is, will the morpheus make the system too expensive to appeal to the masses.

2: They add it as a side option and basically doom the thing to only getting into a very small demographic. This will lead them into having to pay for games to be made for it, as developers want to make their games reach as many hands as possible. This way is risky, because they could lose a LOT of income trying to make it attractive to the average consumer. The only other option is let the devs make small, low budget games for it that barely work and appeal to almost no one except for the few who HAD to buy it.

I think the whole VR thing is going to come and go much quicker than the motion control era.

My college computer temporarily blocked the site while I was making this thread, the poll I added has been lying in wait since then, since every attempt prior told me the page was being blocked, forcing me to hit back.

It could be the next Virtual Boy, but it's too early to guess without more information.

No. Besides VR is already being introduced for the PS4.

So it's not the same thing.

Ps Now + Project morpheus = PS5
And ps now will available on windows, smart tv,smart phone, tablet vs
I want physical console but technology is changed

A lot of genres simply don't work well with VR either, like Street Fighter and stuff like that is always going to be better off on a traditional display I think, and Playstation is basically built on the concept of providing the widest variety of games, so I don't see Sony cornering themselves into serving just one side of the market.

Why Wii, PS2 was a much bigger beast? And PS4 is already doing Wii numbers.
