Forums - Gaming Discussion - Predict what Wii U game Tantalus is porting to the PS4/Xbox One!

What game are we losing?! D:

Bayonetta 2 5 14.29%

Not Bayonetta 2 30 85.71%

Total:35

Didn't see a thread discussing what I think is the more important problem: what exclusive is the Wii U losing?!

I'm all for the Wii U getting more games and all, but losing the one thing it does best, exclusives, is a scary thought to me...

The one I fear most is Bayonetta 2 being lost.  And YES, it's possible since Sega owns the IP and can publish a port on other systems themselves (obviously outsourcing the port job to a developer like Tantalus) if there is no explicit part of the contract stating that the game will remain Wii U-only indefinitely.

This is much like how Mass Effect, originally published by Microsoft Game Studios, eventually ended up on other platforms through EA buying out Bioware and Bioware owning the IP.

*shudders in fear*

I imagine Nintendo got a deal that made sure it wouldn't leave Wii U. Especially since Sega wanted no part in the game any more. But the game they are porting is Funky Barn.

Bayonetta 2 is also currently the highest rated game of Sega's recent IP offerings... It would, no doubt, prove profitable...

And people keep saying Funky Barn because they own the IP, but Tantalus is a studio, they can be contracted to port anything a publisher feels they're worth funding for.  Tantalus doesn't own the Deus Ex IP, and did the Wii U port...

I don't see Nintendo funding a game without making sure its an exclusive.  ZombiU or Lego City or Wonderful 101 seem more likely, assuming its even a retail game.

Ironically, Nintendo funded and published both Wonderful 101 and Lego City. Not to mention Nintendo owns the Wonderful 101 IP,

Looks like ZombiU is my answer lol.

I think it's most safe to say Funky Barn just based on the fact that I think Bayo 2 is not ever leaving. Zombie U would be done by Ubisoft themself and basicly all the other exclusives are either funded by Nintendo or are indie. So, I think it just makes most logical sense that they are trying to take a quick cash grab.

Here's the thing, though... If it IS Funky Barn, there is ZERO reason to keep it a mystery.  As we all know, Nintendo and their games are the only games in the industry that really remain close to the chest until Nintendo decides it can be announced in full.  Tantalus has no reason whatsoever NOT to announced it's Funky Barn if that's, indeed, it...

I feel like they're keeping it quiet for a reason... O.o

Someone on another forum said Sonic Boom, which is actually NOT a bad guess, considering it runs on CryEngine and would thus be an easy port...

Tantalus, please don't take away my baby Bayonetta
I think it might end up being ZombiU or Bayonetta 2 (Sadly)

Best guess is Sonic Boom, those XB1/PS4 owners are really pissed that they missed out on this once-in-a-gen masterpiece of a game, a true gem

The developers of Bayonetta 2 said that it's Nintendo's choice wether it gets released on other consoles or not. We all know they won't let that happen. So why is everyone freaking out about this?

I guess they could keep it a mystery just to try and get people excited for nothing. I guess an interview might not have been the property place to announce there game.

And on sonic boom, it might be, but I'm not sure what the time limit on the game deal with nintendo is.

I dunnoooo... Keeping games a mystery only really works for established IPs.  Something as obscure as Funky Barn needs all of the announcement and public attention it can get ahead of release.

Nintendo is really almost the only developer/publisher that can use secrecy and (somewhat) get away with it... Everyone else benefits from announcements and constant barrages of "info media" on upcoming games...
