Forums - Sales Discussion - Prediction: PS4 will sell 50 million in North America

What you think?

Yeah homie 35 37.23%

It'll outsell the PS2 19 20.21%

Won't even outsell the G... 11 11.70%

Master Chief won't allow that 29 30.85%

Total:94

I can feel it. It's out pacing the 360 by 3-4 million or so in the United States, I firmly believe this generation will be the same length as the 7th generation, and I feel the PS4 will just be extremely popular in North America. The price hasn't dropped yet and it is still doing very well. I think by the end of it's run, the PS4 will be $99.

50 million or more.

PS2: 53.65

Xbox 360: 48.30

Wii: 45.37

PS1: 38.94

NES: 33.49

PS3: 29.06

I dont think this generation will be as long as the 7th

It won't, not gonna have the legs of 360 remotely, where it was doing 6/7m in its latter years.

Also PS2 and 360 only got that close with Xbox and PS3 not being real real competition. XB1 is in America, it's not even clear cut that PS4 will win ther e...

No, it won't.

X360 is at 45,000,000 in NA... X360 break the peak in the 6* year, with more than 7.2 million, it sold in 2011 costant more than 300k all NPD, and was a beasting during the holiday with nearly 3.5 million sold...

PS4 will break the peack in 2015 probabily, maximum 2016, and will be lucky if will sell 6 million.

I know your last poll option is probably meant to be somewhat trollish, but that's going to be the big reason why the PS4 has no chance of breaking 50m in the US... The XB1 isn't a push over in the US...

This will definitely get bumped in the future.

I think you need to consider the fact that 360 sales in North America were heading towards a 30 million or so maximum until Kinect came along and got early Wii buyers to jump over to the Kinect revolution. So observing that PS4 is ahead of 360 by a few million at this point in the cycle does not at all point to a 50 million LTD. And I disagree that this gen will be as long, especially not 360 long which was 8 full years between 360 launch and Xb one launch. The intergeneration gap will be 6 years at most this time around.

360 didn't do it and that machine had Kinect with a longer console cycle. 30 - 35m should be fine.

I don't agree at all. PS4 won't tap into the blue ocean market like the 360 did. 35-ish million is more like the reality.

Plus, I don't think this gen will be as long as the 7th.
