Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The talents of Nintendo Software Technology are being wasted....

....by Nintendo.

People claim that Retro Studios is Nintendo's only western development team. That's not true, as Nintendo Software Technology is located within Nintendo Of America's headquarters. Why are their talents being wasted? Because apparently have several ex-Rockstar, EA, and Microsoft employees. Despite that, lately, the only games they develop are Mario Vs. Donkey games Crosswords games, and a single downloadable title. What the heck, Nintendo?

Well... I doubt it takes much people to make those kinds of games so I am not sure what could a team that made Mario and Donkey Kong, Crossword games and a single downloadable games can make cause that team seems pretty small. On top of that, I kinda doubt they are developing anything they don't want to develop and just because they have worked on a particular company before doesn't mean they absorbed the talents of every developer in the company...

Just because a few dudes worked at Rockstar before doesn't mean they can make a GTA like game. The reason Rockstar can make a GTA like game is because they have a shit ton of developers with a shit ton of funding and just because Nintendo has developers that worked on those companies doesn't mean they can make the games that those companies make

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Thankyou for the laughs, of all their wasted talent this is not the one to be upset about =P
Hell would hardly even say these guys are wasted talent.

Look at this list of games they've developed.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_Software_Technology

While many of these games were good, most of them weren't anything to get too excited for. Most people who like Nintendo games might have bought some of NST's games but they certainly didn't buy Nintendo systems just to play these games. While NST may have gotten some major people in the industry including one of Sonic the Hedgehog's co-creators, they've never had a history of developing games that have been the equivilent to a new Zelda release or a new GTA release. Who knows, they may very well do that in the future.

They also made Metroid Prime Hunters. Which is a Metroid game. Which they could have been making instead of another Mario Vs. Donkey Kong game.

That makes no sense. Just because they have ex-Rockstar, EA and Microsoft employees doesn't mean they have bad management. Heck, none of those ecompanies have any noteworthy platformers and yet these guys are making platform games!

I guess, they are now working on multi-platform(for 3DS, Wii U and their successors) engine.

Yea but that doesn't mean much... Metroid Prime Hunters was made in 2006... Who knows how many things changed since then. And if you look at the rest of their library, they don't exactly make a lot of AAA games at all. Majority of the things they have worked on are smaller titles and that is what they seem to be comfortable with. And I doubt its Nintendo that is holding them back from making another Metroid game cause I am pretty sure Nintendo knows that Metroid would sell a lot more systems/software than Mario & Donkey Kong but if the developers don't want to do it, then Nintendo won't force them to

I'm still annoyed.I mean, there are so many platform games that Nintendo makes. People say Nintendo only has 1 western devlopment team. The reason they think that is because Nintnendo Software Technology hasn't have had the chance to prove they can make an original IP outside of a downloadble title.
