Forums - Sales Discussion - PS4 is about to surpass Wii's highest market share

I just realized that Wii U 20m, X1 50m, PS4 80m would mean more than 50% market share. Should've done the math earlier.

I'm officially abandoning my stance that PS4 will never reach 50%. And it's all Wii U's fault.

Also, When it comes to market sharre, The only thing that is holding the PS4 back from having more than 50% is the fact that the Wii U launched a year in advnace.

that's cool, i suppose :O

50% seems safe bet by the Fall given trends.

I think the PS4 ends up somewhere between 45-49. I do not think it can take 50%

I would say between 50-55. Why do you think it won't? Especially with the way the systems are currently selling?

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

Back then, PS3 and X360 were promising consoles, designed for the future and with lots of announced next-gen titles. 3rd parties were backing them even more than the Wii. They were also expensive consoles, specially the PS3, that got cheaper along the time.

WiiU is not designed for the future at all, has few announced titles yet to be released, little (and descreasing) 3rd party support and no price disadvantage to get smaller along the time. How can it prevent the PS4 to surpass the 50% market share?

Prediction made in 14/01/2014 for 31/12/2020:      PS4: 100M      XOne: 70M      WiiU: 25M

Prediction made in 01/04/2016 for 31/12/2020:      PS4: 100M      XOne: 50M      WiiU: 18M

Prediction made in 15/04/2017 for 31/12/2020:      PS4: 90M      XOne: 40M      WiiU: 15M      Switch: 20M

Prediction made in 24/03/2018 for 31/12/2020:      PS4: 110M      XOne: 50M      WiiU: 14M      Switch: 65M

Wii U?! oh its not going to do a damn thing. I was thinking more along the lines of X1

Excellent. Ps4 is in rude health. Over 50% easily and if the others don't step it up, it will be pushing 60%.

It'll be a bit above 50, maybe 55-60% in the end.
