Have any of you bought into a franchise without or having hardly played any of the games in that franchise?

For some reason, I've drawn a strong liking for Assassins Creed.  So far, Iown every AC game for the PS3 with the acception of VI, I have four out of the six Mega Bloks construction sets, I own the only female assassin action figure from Mcfarlane Toys, and I plan on buying more construction sets and the other titles in the series.  But when it comes to playing the games, I've only played about an hour of the first one.

Does anyone else finds themselves doing this?

I'm a fan of digimon even if I haven't played any digimon games. They have to bring them to the west (for a console I own).

Nope, I only invest in things that I have an overall interest in. That includes playing the games and enjoying them before going into the other markets.

I remember I was playing the first Disgaea and it took me a long time to beat, but I liked what I was playing so while I was going through the game I picked up Disgaea 2,3 and 4 seperately cause I found them for cheap, so by the time I beat the first one I had 3 more to beat.

 I can tell you that lots of fans from all sides are fans of games they've never played. Look at the Sony and Microsoft fans who threw praise at The Order 1866 and Sunset Overdrive when both were first announced, showing no gameplay.  Nintendo fans who throw praise at literally every single first party game that's announced.  People who make lists of "good games" and include games they've never played would also fall under this category.

You should play Assassin's Creed IV - Black Flag. After AC II, that has been best in series, and best overall.

Not really... I only like franchises that I played at least half of the games and enjoy most of them.

There are games that I only played 1 in the whole series and liked, but I wouldn't say I like the whole franchise because it is only one game.

I think I sort of know where you are come from with this.  Being a survival horror fan (I do NOT care for R.E.), I have a handful of survival horror games for the Wii, but I've yet to play them.  I "know" they are good games, and I'm "sure" to enjoy them.  But that truly remains to be seen.
