Why Do People Say WiiU and Vita Are Dead? Both Are Doing Extremely Well For What They Are.....

No Seriously, 10mil Sold (WiiU Will Reach This Year) means something is dead/on life support/barely alive/etc?

It might not be 30mil/50mil/100mil but its still laughable to argue against these two gaming consoles as being dead, especially for what they are!

★ WiiU ★

~Has A Controller that unfortunately isnt used as well as it should have been. (like how the wii mote was for the Wii)

~Its Still $300... Though you can find it cheaper, its still expensive in its own rights (well because of the gamepad)

~Feats compared to Sony+MS consoles (not the biggest deal but im just putting it out there)

~Relies heavily on 1st party support as 3rd party support is actually almost non existent.

~As of the reason stated above, that also means that WiiU line up has droughts whether its big or small.

☆ Vita ☆

~Add on Memory Cards Needed

~"Mobile killed HHs"

~No Big Named Games, with a few exceptions

~Virtually no Support outside of Japan (excluding indies)

So again, people really like to put down things, but i dont actually get why. Its actually impressive if anything. BTW i know They messed up on their gaming Console/Handheld... Yet i still think when you put others in the same boat, it would be sooooo much worse. Especially when comparing to the wiiu....

Thoughts?

They're commercial disappointments/failures, not dead.

The thing is that, after the massive sales of everything during the seventh gen, we are used to these numbers. Everything that is below them, even if it's a finantial success, will be seen as a dissapointment.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

What does dead mean in this context? I consider a dead platform any platform that isn't being produced anymore. For that matter the PS2 died in 2013, but it still the highest selling video game console. Anyway, the Wii U is a disappointment after the Wii, at the least in terms of sales. Although, Nintendo will probably still gain a net profit over the generation on it and its software, if we ignore opportunity cost. Nintendo is doing quite a bit to keep the Wii U alive as long as it deems necessary. Sony isn't doing the same for the Vita, though, and for that reason it is dying. Still, both platforms are alive.

What does "doing extremely well for what they are" mean ?

If you meant been defeated then I agree ...

Both are doing well for what they are? They are the successor of both the PSP and the Wii. You can't honestly say these kind of numbers is what we all were expecting back when seventh gen was still fresh.

I personally thought Nintendo would pull Wii numbers again, but was completely wrong. Can't say I cared much about Vita, though, because I don't like handheld gaming.

Dissapointment? Hell yeah, no doubt. But dead is used a little too much for my taste here :0

Neither is doing extremely well. Wii U is certainly getting better but vita is declining from numbers that were already terrible.

Wii U is a fail about the sales, but is very ok for the profits.
I forgot that is still at 300$... it have still chance for beat GC, but for me a console for be succes must sell at least 30,000,000.
Wii U is not dead.

PSVita... well, is not dead, but it will probabily be discontinued next year or starting 2017...
Good console but withouth the Sony support...

They're zombies. We all know how much the industry just loves zombies right now.
