Money ceased to be an issue since I left my teenage years behind. However, even with just 2 consoles (ps3 and ps4), the clutter around my TV with my laptop, consoles and multiple external HDDs is crazy already. PS4 lacking BC irks me to this day because even switching between them for different games is a pain. I can't imagine switching between 3 new consoles with different control styles plus old ones. It'd literally take the fun out of the game.

I tried being a multiconsole owner in the ps2 gen. After the fun of Ninja Gaiden waned, my xbox just collected dust and that was the gen when PS and xbox were still somewhat differentiated from each other. Nowadays, it's really hard to justify owning both.

What's so hard about switching between the 2? It's just a button press on the remote.

While it is true that it's best to consider all gaming options, there are 3 reasons why I probably won't be enticed to buy a 3rd console.

1. There was no game the entire gen on 360 that I wanted so badly that it would justify another console. I don't expect it to be much different with X1 since it is already starting with exclusives I don't give a shit about.
2. I'm hesitant to join yet another ecosystem to be invested in.I already have a Wii U and PS4, not to mention the countless accounts for games on PC(Ubi, Origin, Steam etc). There would have to be a pretty good reason that I join yet another one.
3. Simply room. In my current abode I barely manage to place the PC and 3 consoles(hello Vita TV) adjacent to my TV. The cabling is already a mess since I'm keeping my network equipment there as well. Having yet another console in there would complicate things a lot and would make it uncomfortable. Not to mention that I ran out of HDMI ports on my TV.

So yeah, there would have to a pretty major game that I can't live without on X1 for me to get it. There are games that exist that I would buy a console for but I doubt those will ever be exclusive on X1.

I disagree

Last gen sure.

XBOX one this gen is pointless with the way Microsoft have been making decisions. Like 20gb download because they couldn't fit the full game on retail disc? screw that.

It was true for last gen but since both charge now for online its not affordable anymore to own all consoles. The ps4 seems like the best deal for me as its the strongest console. The wiiu for me is also overpriced it should be cheaper and pc gaming isnt for me dueto almost everything being digital. I saved a lot of money by borrowing games from my friends and my family for example.

X and Y is all you need :P!!! screw Z and W! X and Y forever!!!

I don't think I've been against buying different consoles because I'm a Y fan and I hate X/Z, but just that I was not quite interested in the others. For example, X (box) never had games that interested me, so I never bought them. SonY I did buy, such as the PS2 and 3, because they had games I wanted, and I enjoyed those consoles.

If the console has the games I want, I would strongly consider it! The consoles I have now are because they had things that interested me. The ones I don't, well... they're not getting me so far. So yeah, for me it's just a matter of games, and now time due to being a working adult in the society...

If you have the money, buying all 3 is an option, but for kids... maybe not. I couldn't buy games like I do now since I was a kid dependent on parents. : X (missed out on PS1 likely because of money and didn't know much of its existence) : X

I agree, however it is also the way to go broke.

Last gen I went PC/Wii(/DS) for the most part, and then picked up a cheap secondhand PS3 and 360 (and PSP) towards the end to play their respective exclusives.

I plan to do the same this gen. PC/WiiU(/3DS) has given me plenty of options thus far and I don't plan on picking up the other consoles for a year or two.

Well, I used to have a HDTV with only 1 HDMI slot. It was worse then as you can imagine but even now, switching to a different controller, not being able to add more than 100 friends on the ps3. Yeah, I'd feel better if everything was on one system. Call it laziness if you will lol.

All 3 consoles + gaming PC is the way to go.

Second best option: PC + PS4 + Wii U

I really want to own all three consoles! Just give me the money to buy a PS4 and a XB1!

I do believe all three consoles are the way to go, although I only own a Wii U at the moment since the other two don't interest me yet. We'll see what the future holds.
