Second hand is fine, for both the systems AND the games!

For some reason, I don't mind purchasing second hand games, but I don't like the idea of a used console. What if it breaks one week later or something? I've had bad experience with used games before; but thankfully, those are simple, much cheaper items.

That's all three consoles for $995.94 or an average of about 2 weeks pay (or a birthday and christmas combined for the average kid).

Um what....?

Since when did kids start getting $1,000 for Christmas and their birthday?

7 days a week 11 hours? thats not okay, its just inhumane!    more than 8 hours a day and 5 days a week isnt okay, and let me guess, he just gets normal pay at weekend?  and below 25 days of payed holydays?

He choses to do it, the end result is that the company is going places, fast.

I would not be surprised if he was earning 25k/month in a years time.

I agree, I don't think one console could satisfy my gaming needs. I am slowly being pulled into the PC space as well.

For last generation, I would say yes.
But PS4 and XB1 don't have enough different games to justify me buying both of them

i dont think that longer work hours mean more succes. people work a lot better if they work less hours. less errors, more creativity, faster workspeed...

I'm going with two consoles and a gaming rig this gen; I'll be picking up a Wii U and a PS4 when they reach an okay price point.

With the twins , it has no sense. Why would I want a xbo if I already have a ps4?And if you have a good PC... then the only really interesting console is WiiU.

1000$ on birthdays and xmas? in what dimension? You must have been a very lucky child, not like the 80% on this planet. I´m sure that the 50% of Kids on this world doesn´t reach 100$ on a year, we are living on a very poor world, people on the little bright side are very blind to the reality.

Wow, $1000 worth of gift as a kid from birthday and Xmas alone? Also, going minimum wage, who makes $1000 in two weeks?

Anyway, money is, you know, the main restriction and a lot of people can't throw $1000 just to own all three system (that's excluding games or you might get pre-bundled game you're not interesting in). A lot of people are limited to two consoles. Personally, I managed to purchased all three consoles last generation throughout 6 years. I was very happy because many of the exclusives are worth it.

Right now, I own a PS4 and Wii U and those are probably enough for me, especially considering I have a backlog from this generation and the previous one. Logic and reasoning dictates that I shouldn't get an XOne, but I'm such a huge Halo fan, I'm probably get an Xbox One along the way because I need to get my Halo dose of f'ed up multiplayer and cinematic experience. I need a Nintendo console to play my Mario and Pokemon and I'd feel like I'm depriving myself if I don't play Naughty's Dog next masterpiece installment.

I think the best solution if you want to get all three system is just jumping on them when the exclusives are there and the price is cheap enough or you get it used for like half the price of the initial release.

The  mean salary in the U.S is something like $25/hr, the median somewhere around $19/hr. So, that fits in with what she was saying. I come from the bottom 5% of Americans, income-wise. I got like $600-700 for between christmas and my birthday, back when the dollar was worth about 15% more than it is now .

Cost of living affects wages. It all depends on where you live. The average pay for a part time Wal Mart employee is $10 but where I live its around $8.25.

What does that have to do with my post? The 50 percentile in wages is $19/hr. You claimed most Americans don't make $17-18/hr. That is false. More Americans make at least $17-18/hr than those who do not (albeit only slightly.) Electronics are a constant good, other than I guess different sales taxes by state. Anyway, we were talking about all Americans, which includes both those people who get $8.25 /hr and those who get $10 /hr. The people who make $8.25 probably have cheaper goods and fewer expenses in their areas than those who make $10/hr, so they might have more disposible income to spend on their children, even if their total income is less.
