I really like the off-screen play but even if it didn't it wouldn't really matter to me

I love the gamepad, I know the console is like 60-80$ more expensive because of it but I like it a lot.

The gamepad was one of the main reasons I bought it. I felt there was potential to do really creative things with it. Even if those ideas come to fruition to the end, I`ll be happy if the pad gets some really cool uses.

I have become attached to the off screen play

Off-TV play is a very important feature for me, but on the other hand I think Nintendo consoles should stick to WiiMote+ and Nunchuck as the basic controller. Every game playable with WM+ on TV and GamePad off-TV would be perfect.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

As much as I love the gamepad, I would have preferred a new Wiimote. ABXY on the wiimote. ZR and R on the trigger. Analogue to replace the D Pad. Nunchuck connects wirelessly to the wiimote. L and ZL on the nunchuck and another analogue on the nunchuck. Improved speaker and rumble in both the nunchuck and wiimote and include battery life like the Pro controller. If Nintendo did this I think they would have had a winner.

As it is, I have no issue with the gamepad. I'd like the Wii U just as much without it. But it should be said that the Wii U can control just as easily with the wiimote.

I like the gamepad. Its different and I really like the off TV play feature.

Actually, no. I think the premise of the Wii U is currect in terms of what a console should be: a unique device capable of delivering special experiences.

It's not my type of game personally, but Kirby and the Rainbow Curse with it's unique asymmetric multiplayer is only possible on Wii U. And that's awesome. Now they haven't taken advantage of the gamepad as much as they should have, but the potential is still great and it makes the console unique.

I would be just as good with it. I almost always play with the Pro Controller. Love them symmetrical sticks and tight feel.

I don't know, I guess I would still enjoy it. I know I wouldn't play it as often though. Most of the time I game on it I'm playing on the gamepad.
