The first holiday season was also launch period for both wii u and ps3, so it doesn't matter. By the way, ps4 had a much better launch than ps3 but quickly fell behind, meaning it's not the same pace. Ps3 required a big turnaround and selling decently even after 5 years on the market, wich is highly unlikely for ps4. |
Launching during the holidays does matter. The PS4 didn't sell out on launch day, probably because February is a slow shopping month. If it had launched in November or December, and was able to benefit from another holiday season, you bet your ass it would have sold more after ~12-12.5 months.
What kind of logic is that? The PS4 sold a ton out of the gate because it wasn't supply constrained and it saturated a certain demographic of gamers quicker. It's a FACT that the PS4 is currently selling at a similar or faster pace... the numbers don't lie. When the PS4 sells less than the PS3 after x amount of time with launch dates aligned, THEN you can say it's selling at a slower pace.
