Forums - Gaming Discussion - Infamous Second Son kuporeview

Infamous Second Son has the best graphics I've seen on a console game, but a pretty looking piece of shit is still a piece of shit.
The first two games were great and playing through the first few missions I expected that Infamous Second Son would live up to the first two titles, but once reaching Seattle the majority of the missions are running from point a to b to c.  The mission's are set up like this, before you can do missions in each area, you'll destroy a UDP truck in each area which will unlock the mission or missions in that location, then 99% of the missions are constantly pressing o to dash with whatever power you have to get from checkpoint to checkpoint.  I'm sure you've heard people bitching about how smnoke is the worst power because of how it takes much longer to get across the map.  This is the reason.  When you get neon and Video you've got new powers, you'll be able to run through the city faster, but just about every mission is just that.  Travel point a to b.

There are 12 districts in Second Son and within each district there are three side missions.  You either need to destroy a camera that's viewing a small location, walk around a small area until one of the random pedestrians turn into an enemy and kill him before he escapes, and use your phone to track an a small location to download data from.  The side missions just feel like yet another collectible, while their are hundreds of other collectibles around the city.  Compare it to the first game which had 89 and the second game that had 70 side missions with a large amount of variety.

If the limited missions weren't enough, then imagine my disappointment finding out about the enemy variety while playing through the game, and how few skills you've received for each power, the marginal difference between good and evil Delsin, and how enemies were ridiculous bullet sponges.  I had to force myself to play through most of the game.  Luckily the game is so damn short I didn't have to suffer too much.

4/10

I agree it isn't as good as the first two games, but I didn't think it was bad either. I definitely enjoyed it probably an 8.3/10 for me personally.

Never been a fan of infamous in general.

Was quite ok. Not every game can be Infamous 2.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

A agree with most of your criticisms, but I still had fun with the game. Except you are way oversimplifying things by saying the main missions are all point a to be to c quests. So it's a 6.5/10 for me.

I played through the game twice to do the good and evil plays and while the difference in powers was not as stark as with the first 2 games my second play through still felt different enough that I enjoyed it. Not pleased that they didn't implement Move for this game. inFamous 2 was fun to play using Move. First Light is a great stand alone expansion. Whether it could have been a full blown game or not is hard to say, but after playing it I felt like I wanted Fetch to be the main character in the next inFamous game rather than Delsin. I think Deslin being a conduit sponge was a good concept, but it made it very difficult to create meaningful good / evil power trees for all those powers. She would be more like Cole in that she focuses entirely on one power with it changing dramatically depending on her karma. Though like Cole in InFamous 2 perhaps she could gain one additional power from some unusual event. They could have made things better by creating mission parameters that could be played with any power, but that one particular power was more useful. The chase side quests obviously could be completed with any power but it's clear they are easiest with neon or video because you can chase the person down very easily. But it could have been used to create more variety in side missions.

InFamous 2 was the high point of the series so far.
