Unfortunately, the same holds true for the opposite end of the spectrum.  Those who absorb vast quantities of games via steam.  What you're referring to represents one end of the spectrum.  My friend Nate, would represent the other, steam level 62, owns 1527 steam titles and 1166 pieces of DLC.

I wonder how many games he owns that he never played.  I've only played about 35% of my Steam games.

Hmm, I'll have to ask, that's a good question.  Though, steam level 62 would suggest quite a bit of playing.  5868 achievements, um, 4 perfect games, 27% completion rate (not sure what qualifies as 'completion').  Some games he gets, and doesn't spend a huge amt of time on, but, others he spends asburd amounts of time on.  Like, Payday 2, he's got 787 hours played.  Though, not even remotely close to my Brother's max on Binding of Isaac (1420 hours) and another 301 hours on Binding of Isaac Rebirth).

Sorry the world doesn't fit into your neat black and white categorizations.  There's a hell of alot of room between someone who has 1 game, and someone who has 1527 games.  The 125 million users, is quite relevant, because they've been on steam in the past 30 days.  Beyond that, you really have as little information as we do, regarding the average breakdowns.  So, I could just as easily say the vast majority of that 125 million, buy tons of games.  Besides, why would you just come in and downplay Steams obvious success?  Is there really any point to that?

Casue it just pr and i see through it as iv been involved in such foolishness.  If its success was truley get youd recive more information gloting and showing it of, an average amount of games purchesed by those 125 million or average spending.  Anything of actual substance to show its worth.  But they dont casue this is mostly a fluff peace.

Steam has auto login it does it not ?

Yeah, steam has auto-log...if you allow it to, which I don't.  I have to start it manually.

Beyond that, Steam has never published sales data, then again, as far as digital goes, neither does anyone else.

Well there you go, the big numbers sure sound great but is really meaningless with out some sort of data backing it and like you said they never release it.

Sure they do, but they lump them together with physical sales.

Yeah, they never publish specific digital data, which is why tracking digital sales is impossible for sites like VGChartz.  You're just assuming doom and gloom, because you have nothing to back you up.  I'm simply assuming more middle of the road, since it's clear you're one end of a very large spectrum.

LMAO where did i say doom and gloom lol.  Steam is clearly doing great lol where do you see me arguing for its doom and gloom.  Stop taking shit so personally.

Im just being logical, and understand pluff pr pieces.

If I were taking things personally, we wouldn't be having this conversation.  I'm simply pointing out that you are one person, my friend Nate is one person.  Neither of you represent the actual average, and neither your nor I, can actually prove any of it.  To assume most are like you, is in fact, downplaying the numbers, and appropriately 'doom and gloom'.  It's far from logical to assume you represent some kind of average, without any shred of evidence to back up that assertion, any more than it would be logical to state Nate represents the average.  You're merely two opposing ends of the spectrum, logic dictates the actual average rests somewhere in between.

Excellent, gaming on steam is great.

I just recently signed up for a steam account. I keep hearing about humble bundles that I decided to get in on the next one.
BTW when is the next one going to happen?
I'm sure for most, the cost of games with Steam was it's biggest drawing factor. Is this why people don't mind the online DRM associated?

Kind of hard to estimate when the Humble Bundles come out, here's a list though, looks like every 3-6 months?  Sometimes shorter, sometimes longer.

As far as DRM, I hate it, I still hate it, and I hate the always online for consoles also.  However, considering I'm in the minority, there's not a whole lot I can do about it.

thanks for the info!
