Just curious I dont remember this being a thing. I had noticed it, but ignored it for a while and when I clicked into it, it really did not have any details. I am willing to pay money, but nothing extravagant, but it would be nice to know what it cost.

Back in 07-08 you would have threads asking ioi where the numbers for the previous week were by Thursday. I recall it used to be that Media Create and Famitsu were the last numbers we got each week. I will add the numbers are much more accurate now, I went back an check the past few years and VGC has been very accurate. People complain this days about a 25% variance between NDP and VGC, back then I remember VGC being off sometimes by 50-75% (one month the Wii NDP doubled VGC). So I do prefer later but better numbers.

Wow that is crazy, almost hard to believe but I know it is true because he would get his pants sued off if it were not. I am happy for him. It makes more sense why he sticks with it. I remember at 1st it was a hobby thing, and then they started to get some legit advertisers on here (around the time I left). I would assume the some of the sales data is not free and a chuck of that 4-20k goes into getting data. I dont care how much I am just glad this place is successful. I remember at one people NDP and possibly other were actually going after this site. I also think that is a big reason why VGC is banned over on GAF (multiple NDP insiders are important members there).

I'd say there is a zero chance he gets paid 200k a year for vgchartz pro. Id be surprised if even 1 or 2 did. If he was and all the ad revenue on top of it, he'd be paying the head mods and employing people part time to keep the site up to date.

The data is just guesstimates and when the official trackers release their numbers he adjusts. There is no way sony for example pay when they already pay the official trackers who do the research. Not attacking the site just giving my opinion.
