The violence in video games discussions has gone and passed (I think its still relevant, just in the case of lack of creativity)

The case regarding sex is still current. Its also gender bias which is why it irks some. Its also often tacky, misplaced and childish. Cases like Mass Effect with deal with it more maturely don't get any backlash from the gaming press.

Because they are GAMES. Why the hell do games need to incorporate sex in the first place?

Does anyone ever complain that there's too much violence and not enough sex in Clue, Risk and Battleship?

Because video games are mostly narrative works in 2016. Most of the narrative works in 2016 include romance. And most romances IRL include sex. And the current game industry encourages realism.

A game with nudity won't add nothing to the quality of a games in contrast without violence the majority of genre would competly disappear you can't make a fighting games without violence an fps or tps without violence ,a games that talk about some history like Metal gear solid need violence

The paint in Splatoon clearly represents semen and vaginal fluid overflowing, it's like bleeding noses in animes and mangas, but less subtle. That game oozes sex!!!

The necrobump God agrees with you.

The problem with sexuality in games is that it's basically handled poorly almost every bloody time. Now, Sturgeon's Law dictates that 90% of EVERYTHING is crap, but that means there's almost a full 10% of portrayals of sexuality that still have no excuse for being handled so badly.

The cause, I think, is the nonsensical rating system and general ignorance on part of legal guardians. On one hand, the ratings for games is asymmetrical to movies when it comes to its content, forcing developers/storytellers to abide by very different standards. Public outcry for the errors of some dolt who hands mature content to a six year old likewise adds unwarranted pressure.

The result: sexuality is systematically deconstructed into traits which can fill checks in boxes. Some boxes are acceptable, others are not, but so long as enough boxes are filled the devs can say they added it to the game. Problem is, this means it's handled poorly almost universally. The process almost doesn't allow for it to be handled well, and those who actually pull it off are more easily dismissed as statistical anomalies than acknowledged as brilliant storytellers who understand the boundaries given to them.

I think, in time, if sexuality was given more leeway, it would actually be handled better. While it would inevitably result in more gratuity in the medium as well--perhaps more pornographic genres pushing the new boundaries--there would at least be more games where the sexuality can legitimately be recognized for its artistic merit. So far, I haven't really encountered that. I've just seen games that handle it so much better than the video game norm, yet falls quite short of actually being worthy of praise.

It's a US thing. A penis/boob is horrifying. But a head exploding is a family movie affair.

These days it is a SJW and neo fem thing-  that is were the push back is coming from

Yes and no, we have bigots and libertines, but above all, legions of hypocrites.

Edit:  PS: BTW many issues remain unsolved even with left-wing majorities because the biggest centre-left wing party, just like the former centre-right one, absorbed roughly a half of Democrazia Cristiana, the old christian democratic party almost destroyed by scandals in the early 90's (a few small christian democratic parties remained, but the majority of DC realised it could have the power forever by splitting in two and merging into the major parties of both the new alliances.

^ Can't argue with you on that...

^ I added a post scriptum to my previous post about political reasons for this that currently overwhelme cultural ones, that have evolved a lot in the last 40 years, but bigots and hypocrites managed to keep more power than what their actual number could allow them.

Depends if you're a hardcore gamer or not. If you are, you want very explicit hardcore anime scenes.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
