So, Why is that a lot of people are so easily offended by sexuality in video games? and not by violence? I really want to understand different opinions. IMHO is really cool to see  characters being sexual or even the fan service. If the game is not just about sex, but there's some sexuality, why is that a bad thing?

edit: sexuality is not just intercourse

I'd personally rather see more sexuality than violence.
I don't care if my 7 year old son sees a boob or some panties in a video game, but I'd rather not have him see lots of blood and gore and killing people just yet.

Need something off Play-Asia? http://www.play-asia.com/

It's a US thing. A penis/boob is horrifying. But a head exploding is a family movie affair.

Maybe they feel that violence in video games is much more benign--easily taken as pure fantasy--whereas sexuality can instill unhealthy ideals in kids. Just a guess, though.

maybe, but Australia and Italy are like that too! sex is a big taboo in Italy

Yeah, its a general cultural taboo.

However, it does deserve to be talked about. Why do video games not have the freedom to show sexual situations? Virtually every other entertainment medium has an abundance of sex scenes, yet when Mass Effect shows as much skin as you could find in a late night TV commercial, its all over the news. Meanwhile, Hotline Miami 2 is banned from Australia for depicting a rape scene in Hotline Miami's pixelated style.

Some "think of the children" bullshit mentality has stuck into video games, despite the global rating systems which makes people get up in arms about sex in games (and even more so about rape in games) because children play games and that is something that policy makers, game makers and the game community all need to participate in moving past.

Yet kids are in the room when those bikini ads are playing. People's logic just sucks under this subject.

Because sex is not for children.
