Forums - Sales Discussion - is it safe to say that VGC tracking is now totally irrelevant?

Back around the holidays the general consensus was that ioi had a life and shouldn't be expected to update numbers on the site regularly during the holidays. Fair enough. But  VGC numbers weren't even all in by the time NPD numbers released. Can't recall when that has ever happened before.

Now we are 3 weeks into February and have no numbers for any week of February at all. is it just me or are things consistently getting worse in relation to the numbers coming increasingly later than usual. And before some people decide to lynch me for bringing this up, not all criticism is trolling. I actually feel this site is all round better if numbers are at least consistent. Or that at least it would be better if ioi makes a thread explainibg why the delays or better yet even makes changes and tells us that numbers will now come out every two weeks for the last two weeks. anything.

Or if what we are really expected to do is bit take the numbers seriously at all and stop expecting them, well... I don't think that will ultimately be in the best interest of this site. Cause I'm pretty sure its the numbers that brought every single one of us here... even if that's not why we are currently staying.

It's probably not safe to say that on VGChartz, no.

I think it is more irrelevant due to Digital sales.

I rather have the numbers late than wrong

I have sufficient evidence to prove it's more accurate than NPD in tracking sales globally in the US.

Lol off by a margin of error up or down, and sometimes out of that margin all together.

OP: considering the reason we are (I just pop in for appearance/nothing here for me anymore) on this site, be happy you have a site dedicated to the numbers, and some off topic material.

Well, I myself only really care about rough sale numbers for games and consoles to see how well they are doing. I personally don't need weekly updates.

It is better that the numbers come later and are right than the numbers come early and are wrong.

Maybe they are late because ioi is just fed up of all the whining about over/under tracked every single time numbers are released.
