I don't really understand why Sony has still, more than a year after release, gimped the PS4 in so many ways.

i recently booted up my PS3 after a long absence, on my new 55" tv.

Then it hit me: PS3 is just better atm. My custom image backround looked amazing (A Wipeout HD photo mode pic), the image quality is much better on Blurays and Netflix, and all my music files, photos and videos are all on the XMB and shareable via DLNA. Games, too, are tucked into one folder in a list instead of dominating everything.

And PS3 3D: wow. Super crisp, stable, really adds a lot of depth, and so many great games like GT, Killzone and Uncharted support it. Granted my tv is excellent for 3D (Samsung ue55hu8000) but it's like a giant New 3DSXL. I miss this feature on PS4 games.

bascially PS4 has slightly better graphics and loading, and share functions, and a better controller. Everything else is worse :(

So are you saying the features on the PS3 overall are better than the PS4's? What's wrong with the features on the PS4? I can't say I know myself, since I don't have a PS4.

Cloudman: yeah basically. Custom backgrounds, 3D, DLNA, mp3s, photos and videos, better organisation (Imo). And even beyond features, the PS3 is a better Bluray player and better at Netflix for image quality.
It's kinda crazy. The PS4 feels very closed off and unremarkable, the PS3 was open ended and very friendly to multimedia. I kinda feel like PS4 stripped out great stuff for no good reason.

That does sound pretty lame. Maybe it'll get better down the line. : /

I disagree. Yes there are a number of things that the PS3 currently does that the PS4 can't. But I personally care more for the things the PS4 can do.

This just goes to show how subjective and purely opinionated this thread is, the only single thing I want my PS4 to be able to do right now is play movies off an external HDD. Or support apps that will let us be able to do that.

You could try something though, make a list of what you can and can't do on the PS4 and PS3 and what each console does better. I dare say you would be surprised with your results when you aren't solely focusing on that on thing you can't do at the moment.

And the PS3 didn't have huge save files that take up a stupid amount of your cloud storage. Seems like the minimum size for a save file on PS4 is 11 MB.

I'm trying really hard not to laugh but you are very funny. The PS3 is bad... and I'll tell you why.

With my PS4 I can download shit while I'm sleeping. With the PS4 I can play games like The Order 1886. With the PS4 I get two indie games per month, and they are free! With the PS4 I keep my body trained because I need to get up from the sofa every 4 hours to charge my controller. With the PS4 I know that greatness awaits, with the PS3 I have to belive that someday it may come.

Custom backgrounds will be available in the next firmware system update.
