Forums - Gaming Discussion - what's with the lack of epic boss battle's these days?

Most boss battle's seem to be some variation of a QTE event.  watchdogs, dying light,%99 of fps's, the order 1886,etc. I'm sure there's plenty of more examples, but I can't think of any at the moment. when it's not a QTE event,it's some disapointing boss battle. Dragon age is one example. I loved that game, but I expected the boss battle,to be more epic then it was. I don't want some really hard boss battle, but I want something more epic, then what we get these days. Something like the orginal devil may cry boss battle's. Hell,I'll even take the one's from the early resident evil games. does anybody else feel the same way? what are some recent epic boss battle's, if there are any? discuss

Far Cry 4 doesn't even have a QTE boss battle. It's only press a button or don't...
But I don't mind, if the rest of the game is good. Same as Dying Light.

I somehow equate epic boss battles to Japanese developers. Resident Evil, older Tomb Raider being a couple of franchises that had tough and exciting boss battles to end each chapter. And I love myself some epicness once in a while.

But in the end, it is not a feature that will make or break a game for me.

Too expensive for developers.

Boss battles originated as an entertaining and challenging end, to replace a well made ending with a sense of accomplishment, when it was possible to start throwing in videos and such, end of game bosses slowly faded out and got replaced with video, an hours worth of credits, and sometimes, just sometimes, a smaller video after the credits to reward the people who didnt quit the game or turn off their consoles after getting bored and dizzy watching the credits.

Someone brought up Bayonetta 2, also Metal Gear Rising also has awesome boss fights. If you're looking from something that was released last year till now, inFamous: Second Son had some enjoyable boss battles, Dark Souls II and Wolfenstein: The New Order had mostly mini-bosses but the bosses that were there were pretty awesome. Sunset Overdrive looks like it has a fair number of bosses too, but I haven't played that game yet.
