Forums - Gaming Discussion - A smartphone company acquired tri-Ace

Didn't Sega recently say they are going to focus more on mobile as well though?

Sad days for the Japanese video game industry

It really is ...

It's sad enough that Persona 5 will likely be Atlus's last console game ...

Capcom is going out of business very soon but I hope the rest stays ...

Because it's a terrible system for JRPGs with actual gameplay. You know, like Tri-Ace's.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

My next gen Star Ocean dream has been shattered,

Valkyrie Profile on smartphones/tablets would still be playable, if they ever port it.

It's always a pity when such companies get swallowed by the mobile monster I kinda see mobile as Sin in FFX.

Why do the mobile companies buy regular game companies and force them to make mobile games? Can't they either buy them and let them continue doing what they were doing or start up new subsidiaries from the gounds up to make mobile games?

Leave regular companies alone, leave them alone!!

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

You could have stopped with just that. It would still be true...

Touchscreen is great for some game types. But it hurts my very soul that Tri-Ace is permanently going from this to... this.

The writing was kind of on the wall, though. I was surprised that they managed to keep the lights on last gen, but they had to stop making their own games and work on FFXIII to do it.

Another sad day. I expect nothing from Tri Ace from now on...
