I think so just based off how GOW Judgement was received by gamers. I don't see too many people with good things to say about it.

It also seemed like people were in franchise fatigue of the series. That's why I don't see GOW 4 doing good


To be fair, Gears Judgement didn't get a big marketing push like past games and more importantly it didn't progress the story. Its a fine game but did MS and Epic do much to make people care about it? Not really.

People kept making presumptions about Halo being dead but then Halo 4 did mega numbers. Hence, we'll have to wait and see what happens when MS actually wants people to care about Gears of War again.

I don't really care since I'll get both no doubt.... Bit i doubt it... The only way I see it happening is if there is a huge increase in install base between the two release... But in ratio I doubt it will happen... Hope it will be a good challenger though... Those franchise need to stay big... I only like sci-fi FPS and tps...

So now that Gears is a MIcrosoft owned ip, i can see it getting bundled more. So it may increase in sales (Maybe) but it wont outsell Halo 5.


That's not what this thread is about though. It's about how many XBO's it'll push.

Well, although sales are better for Halo, most gamers know about Gears of War. If this is set to be hyped and has appropriate marketing I can see it having a huge effect on sales.
That said, GoW1 was one of the main reasons I chose the Xbox 360. I hope 4 can be as groundbreaking as the first one was but currently I am skeptical.

No, I am just skeptical as the dev team changed as far as I remember and I don't know what they are going to tell us story-wise.  Many things have to be "new" (enemy types, weapons) while they still have to make it a Gears of War, not to forget people want to see what they do after Judgment (this doesn't apply to me - I really enjoyed Judgment and think reviews were all too harsh with the game).

Also the Gears games are set to have breathtaking visuals and I want to see if they can deliver.

In the end I don't want to get hyped by now to not be totally disappointed if Gears 4 doesn't deliver...

Ahh, well in that case thereisnt really a way to determine that. If halo sells more than Gears i would assume more people bought Xbox for Halo than Gears.  Whether they bought it at launch or waited, halo may have had an impact on their decision

I feel both are past their peak. Judgment was a terrible end to the series on 360. Halo had a better end however The master chief collection has not helped it out. It's possible but I don't see it happening.
