Forums - Gaming Discussion - The Order 1886 is Ryse Son of Rome

Going back to collect treasures isnt replayability. Nice bonus but not replayability.

Anyway you clearly dont understand simple economics so I'll let you continue believing that any game you dont approve of should be half price on launch.

Oh yeah, I don't understand simple economics. Right. If that's what you want to believe, so be it.

Anyway, most people who play the game say that it isn't worth anywhere near $60, so yeah. I really doubt it cost them so much to make that they absolutely had to sell for $60. It's a AAA tech demo selling for the price of a full AAA game, and if you believe otherwise, power to you. Have fun playing.

Evolve and Dying Light were decent

Im not sure you do understand economics. What something is "Worth" and what it costs are not linked . I personally think $60 for 10 hours is fine. $6 an hour is about the same you pay for an average movie(based on an average 2 hours), Bowling etc. For all i know this game could be bad, I will find out tomorrow.

The reviews are in and The Order 1886 stands at a metascore of 65 barely five point higher than Ryse Son of Rome's 60 which we should take off given that the latter was a launch title.

Both games hyped from the beginning to extreme proportions.

The only merit to either game was their beautiful graphics and they suffered from to many quick time events boring story and imited gameply variety and length.

After Dying light and Evolve being disappointments this is just one more for the pile.

I just hope Bloodborne does not follow the trend.

One big difference between Ryse and The Order is that the metascore for Ryse = the median review score = 60. This means there are no outliers skewing the metascore up or down and making that might cause the metascore to not properly represent the reviews that make up the metascore.

The median review score for The Order is 70 whereas the metascore is 65. This suggests, at the moment,  a few especially low scores are skewing the metascore lower than what it probably should be, and perhaps the median score is a better representation of the reviews that currently make up the metascore. I think metacritic should provide both the median and the weighted average for all games so that people can see whether there are outliers that are having a skewing effect.

The arithmetic mean, especially when you have to apply a weighting factor (which introduces web-site bias into the metascore) is not necessarily always the best sort of average to use as a measurement.

Indeed it is. I wonder if Bloodborne is Sunset Overdrive.

I can't imagine why you'd have doubts? I can hardly tell apart myself

The resemblance is uncanny.

I think you meant to reply to me, but anyway, when most $60 games have 15+ hours of gameplay or at least some multiplayer to make up for it, you'll have to forgive me for saying that $60 is absolutely robbing most consumers. I expect more out of indie games, to be honest. The only type of game where 10 hours total for $60 would be acceptable would be visual novels, and it better be the best visual novel of all time if you're selling it for $60.

And I honestly don't know how much it costs to do a game where 20-30% is quick time events and cintematic cutscenes. All I know is that I can buy Dragon Age Inquisition, Sunset Overdrive, or Infamous Second Son for the same $60 but with dozens more hours of content and replayability.

Don't remember Ryse being really hyped. Just hated on by trolls who never played it.

Bought it for $10 on Steam and not a single regret.
It was also a launch game so I wasn't expecting something incredible. People were with the Order in some ways.

If the Order was about $40 at launch like it should have been the hype would have not been so ridiculously high. People defending its short gameplay just surprised me.

What hype?  There were SO many negative articles compared to positive ones.  Like where are people getting this "hype" for the order from?  Most seemed to be expecting 60-70 metascore.

Just going by what the Sony fans were saying.  If the game was not hyped no one would have cared about these negative articles.  The only things bashing it were complaints of QTEs and short length.

If it was announced as $40 people would have forgiven the above things and not bashed so harshely.
