Forums - Gaming Discussion - The Order 1886 is Ryse Son of Rome

The reviews are in and The Order 1886 stands at a metascore of 65 barely five point higher than Ryse Son of Rome's 60 which we should take off given that the latter was a launch title.

Both games hyped from the beginning to extreme proportions.

The only merit to either game was their beautiful graphics and they suffered from to many quick time events boring story and imited gameply variety and length.

After Dying light and Evolve being disappointments this is just one more for the pile.

I just hope Bloodborne does not follow the trend.

Both bad game's.

I agree.
Bloodborne is from the Demon's Souls makers though, so I expect it to have great gameplay. From Software is a talented experienced dev.

No chance. Bloodborne is a game, not a movie trapped in a game's body (transfilm?).

Both the best looking game on their respective platform too.

Both overloaded with QTE

Both were relatively short lacking gamplay variety

Both were overhyped from the beginning

Most games use narrative to enhance the gameplay

The Order 1886 uses gameplay to enhance the narrative

Overhyped???

When?

"Ryse", since the reveal at 2013 E3 was meted with contempt. Specially as it was the middle of "resolutiongate" and suposed XOne hardware and software problems.

"The Other" on the other hand sufered from surtain ceticism but the delays and lack of marketing made people almost ignore the game.

Ryse is still the best looking game on consoles, so it has at least that.

Repetition is the simplest most effective form of humor isn't it

Ryse was a launch title though. It's like judging Knack.... very rarely do exclusive launch titles dominate (Halo, Mario 64, are rare).

The Order was the game that everyone seemed to want to hate from the start, there was no hype there. The review scores are more than likely just giving gamers what they want to see, as often happens in this industry. You can't really trust journalists reviews because they do nothing more than pander to the fanbase.
