Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Studio Behind Phantom Dust Reboot Shuts Down

Wow, that's fucking terrible. Sad to hear those people lost their jobs.

Does Microsoft have anyone internally that can develop this game? This is like the second time a games developer has changed hands. Thrice is never good luck.

Wow, what the hell? I mean at least the game is still getting made, but just out of the blue like that? Whoever up top did this should get sacked. Those poor guys did nothing wrong. This is only going to hurt the game in the long run, too.

im 50-50 on this news, i didnt really like the direction it was going with that trailer, the first game seemed much more atmospheric and dark, a quality i really liked about it, the trailer did nothing for me.
thing is, weve no real idea where its actually going in terms of design now.

Welp, so long... It sounds like a pretty big screw-up.

Doesn't really seem to be the case from what the anonmyous souce said. Maybe MS found someone who can finish it for cheaper.

I think it's quite easy to big up your work and make it seem better than it was when you've just been laid off though.  You never get anonymous sources from these layoffs who say "actually yeah, our version wasn't that good".

This^ MS needs to give their ips for their first party studios. It's the third time they give their IP for a third party and some shit happens.

Killer instinct was developed by double Helix,The studio was bought buy someone else.

MCC was developed by a bunch of third party studios,we know what happened.

Now Phantom Dust.

Yea but it wasn't just that. He made it clear that MS execs were "impressed" with what they were doing. This is a studio that seems to be known for doing contract work. If I had to guess they did enough and MS wanted to bring this in house now and have someone else finish it.

i think people are still trying to figure out what the hell Phantom Dust is lol. I wish they would make something over the top. Only game i am hyped about (to see some gameplay on) is Scalebound.
