Forums - Sony Discussion - The Order 1886 complete playthrough.(Updated) -The Order 1886 has replayability according to an interview-

For games that you buy, how long should that game's duration be? Depends on genre of course.

Minimum 8hrs+ 198 83.19%

Minimum 8hrs- 39 16.39%

Total:237

So a youtuber uploaded a complete playthrough of The Order 1886 ahead of release last Feb. 14, and it seems he managed to finish the game in more or less 6 hrs.

I still did not look at the game as I hate spoilers, but for those who would/did watch, can you justify a purchase with this short of a duration for a game?

Personally, I would still buy the game as long as it is fun and has great replayability(optional) and of course, story.

For people interested to watch the playthrough, here's the link. <---- the videos in this link are already taken down.

Edit:  Remember, I did not post this just so people can go bashing a games quality through the duration of a game, more so, the youtuber might have been playing this for a couple times that he got too familiar with the game hence reducing game duration, or he could have edited the video(can't tell cause I did not watch yet), let's all be civilized in criticizing a game, thank you.

Edit #2:  Weerasuriya said he understood the concerns about value for money in the single-player game, but he believes the games business should offer diverse experiences.

“To tell you the truth, that’s something we always keep in our heads. We know people want to be entertained and have things they can play longer.

But the industry has always had diversity. You go back 10 years, there were a lot of games that were just single-player, one time play. There were some games that were single-player and you could jump back in and get more. That’s what we did in our game. You can jump back and get other things out of it.

Here's a link for more info on the interview.

I watched part 2 of the playthrough and I liked what I saw. I would buy a 5 hour game but not at full price. However, there are various claims about the games length on GAF. Anywhere from 5 to 13 hours long. To be honest I'll have to wait till reviews for a decent estimate.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

I doubt it was his first playthrough, but I won't be watching it to confirm due to avoiding spoilers. If he already beat it before doing a speed run and lowered the difficulty, this shouldn't be a shock. As I said, there is a trophy in The Evil Within for completing the game in under 5 hours. It took me 16 on my first playthrough. I didn't mess around, but I did actually take in everything the game had to offer in a single run. Kinda makes me sick how people are actually TRYING to make this game look bad lol.

I honestly hope (this is really high balling it) that the game is just as deep as The Last of Us. The net would have a meltdown and the credibility of sooooo many people trying to downplay a game pre launch would be ruined.

I can guarantee one thing though. I will be buying this game day one. If it sucks, I will gladly put my foot in my mouth and admit I was wrong. (spoiler alert...I don't think I will be =P).

I guess I will find out how long it will take me to finish the game starting Friday. I love the way the game looks, I love the story and the setting, and I am a big fan of third-person games.

As for the duration debate: I'd rather play a good 5-hour game than suffer through a crappy and boring 15-hour game.
Out of all criteria to judge a game on, duration is definitely the worst.

That final boss...

And apparently a number chapters are just 5 minute cutscenes with little to no gameplay. I am in disbelief, that honestly can't be true. RAD should be embarrassed if that turns out to be the case

That ending.....why.

Oh man, is the ending disappointing?(don't answer with a spoiler please XD) I hope not . . .

I can finish MGS4 in a few hours not trying hard. I've gotten much more out of it than that. This means nothing to me because I replay cinematic games at least annually. So an 8 hour game is really an unlimited game IF the quality is there. I have played Ratchet and Clank UYA about 15 times. I've never put more than 20 hours into an online MP mode on any game because I get bored playing the same maps. For me it's like comparing daytime TV to a great film. The film I can rewatch over and over for all time because even though you're re-treading ground it's just too damn good to ever be bored with even when you know what's coming. The TV offers new content but it's only ever a little different than what it was yesterday and the quality is never as good. It's just content for the sake of content like collecting 5 million flags in AC it's just filling up hours rather than actually enjoying your time with your game.

I actually do this with some games that I don't quite understand the first playthrough, but I get your point.

I'd never buy a 5 hour game with no multiplayer or online component for full price. No matter what the game is.

As for The Order, I've seen enough of it to know that it's not my type of game. So its length is irrelevant to me anyways.

Edit: Okay, so I just watched the "final boss" and...I'm honestly in disbelief.
