Wasn't this the whole point of making the architecture x86 and using off the shelf parts?

I don't buy this. They are making remasters to turn a quick buck during the game release lull. Nothing really wrong with it, just calling a spade a spade.

Yes there was a lot of talk about how easy it was going to move code from the developers PC to the x86 consoles. Instead we get delays, 720p@30fps, broken games and ports of old games.

The first few years of this gen will be a transitional period and it will take this year until we start seeing next gen games.

The good thing is I don't think companies will go through this pain again as I really believe that the next gen consoles will just be an evolution of the current consoles with better graphics and processor and companies won't need to redesign their games to work on the new platform.

As for HD remasters, I know some people are sick of them, but its been a great way for companies to move over to the new consoles and make less problems for themselves. This will mean when they release the next gen games they will be lots better than had they just rebuilt the engine from scratch (Unity is a case in point where it shows making a new engine is hard).

There are still major differences between PC and consoles, and previous gen consoles were different enough from current gen to cause issues.

You dont have to buy it, the proof is in the pudding.

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!

Annual big games seem to have also taken the soul from the industry.
COD, AC, Sports games, etc. These franchises don't push the industry forward anymore they just want to maximize profits, publishing for as many different platforms as possible, doing as little work as possible.

This generation is missing the "not-so-annual" big games like next gen GTA, though I still don't mind these remasters...

Still I have great expectations for this gen: "Aure entuluva!" ("Day will come again!") it just took off a little bit longer than the last time.

Maybe it was because of your age?

Im more excited for the games coming this year like uncharted 4, bloodborne, mgs v, batman and MK X than i've been in a while...

I think it's the fact that 360 and ps3 had such a long, close and bitter battle. Everyone was on edge. This gen everyone excepts am easy win for the ps4 so there isn't an intense fan war.

Yeah that's because there are no damn system sellers yet.

Just looking down the list of top games on metacritic it's littered with games still available on previous gen, remakes/remasters, and those cheap download only titles that are no more than $10 or $15.

There's nothing for me yet that has made me glad I bought my PS4. In fact I wish I hadn't bought it as it stands. I could have played just about any game that's out for PS4 on a PS3 (same goes for X1 and 360). Where is the killer game that is innovative and amazing and only possible on this new generation of console? That's what I'm waiting for.
