So you figured, even though I was so subtle and sly.

By the way, the OP has a fitting username. Did you notice?

I'm not sure I quite follow ...

anakin I think but I've misunderstood rol before.

Potentially a Scottish dialect that means as much as "I don't know".

You know Scottish ?!

"Phil Spencer: DirectX 12 Won’t Change Xbox One’s Hardware and Graphics Capabilities

Read more: http://wccftech.com/phil-spencer-directx-1-xbox-one-hardware-graphics/#ixzz3Rh4SiDJW"

But sure....you know more than Phil. Part of the guys job is hyping up the smallest things.

This is the guy that said they have too many games....

Fail to see the mention of xbox one on the article. Maybe its my eyes.

Ontopic to the anadtech article - dx really did come a long way, pc gamers have been suffering for so long, now theres light at the end of the tunnel. AMD with Mantle started the revolution.

I'm pretty sure AMD and Microsoft worked together.

Around 2001 Microsoft indicated it was working with GPU venders on GPU performance and functionality.  My guess is the reason why Mantle, as of this writing, is still only supported on Windows is because of that partnership.

Did you seriously try to relate memory performance with draw call performance

If so ...

I don't believe I related any specifics.

Impressive, when did they secret sauced the X1 GPU to a GTX 770?

Read the artcle.  They also compare the performance increase on the APU's GPU alone.

You're drawing the wrong conclusions from Windows tests. I don't think XB1 will get much boost, because it should already have a lower level driver than Windows DX11.

The whole idea of Mantle, DX12, Metal, etc. is to make PC graphics APIs more light weight, like console graphics APIs have been for a long time.  DX12 on XB1 isn't going to make the XB1 that much more consoley.

Your reasons for why Mantle isn't coming to Linux is drivel ...

It's cause AMD can't afford to support Linux with their future prospects ...

BTW there's more than one IHV for directx such as Nvidia and Intel ...

I think a mod should edit that title. It's so misleading it hurts ^^;

Title says "could", not "will".

Just because the wording is technically correct (such as, "you could be killed by a banana falling out of a plane tomorrow!"), that doesn't stop it being misleading.

If the thread was named properly, we could be discussing the benefits DX12 is likely to have for the PC (which, relative to consoles, has always had rather inefficient APIs). Extending that discussion to the X1 would then have made sense. Instead it's been made the focus point of an article that never even mentions it.

Heck, the article itself states that we shouldn't read too much into these result yet. "Looking at the overall picture, just as with our initial article it’s important not to read too much into these results right now. Star Swarm is first and foremost a best case scenario and demonstration for the batch submission benefits of DirectX 12."

Long winded replies to 5 word posts are fun :p
