Forums - Gaming Discussion - Sony as 'third party' in handheld scene?

Basically, if Nintendo don't go the "Nintendo Fusion" route and Sony decide against another attempt at "PSP-ing" could you envision Sony putting any of their products on the Super DS?

There are obvious advantages to it in that it would put their IPs out there for a different audience to mull over, such as potentially creating a link for handheld gamers to leak into the console scene on Sony's side.

Obviously for Nintendo, any more support for their handheld is a boon, but Sony being on their turf in that sense may boarderline on uncomfortable...

So what do you think? Could you imagine this scenario playing out or do you think, in a world without PSP, Sony will just become entirely invested in the home-console market.

Um no, they'll just focus everything on the PS4/5...

No. They barely make games for their own handheld.

Sony makes phones. They will support Android platforms if anything.

they dont make much profit if any profit at all with firstparty handheld games, why should they go 3rd party?

Not gonna happen, there is no audience for their products in the handheld market.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

If they had any full blown handheld franchises that had been major successes, maybe. But they don't so no.

Pretty sure Sony would just focus on home consoles, I mean, they don't even support PSVita properly =P

ive personally would just like to see all of their resources go to the console department, a lot of the times at the beggining of the gen people complain that they dont have enough launch games, and this is due to them supporting both the PS3, PS4 and PSVITA if they could focus everything in the console then we would likely stop seeing stuff like "the PS4 has no gamezzzz..."

They barely make games for their own handheld. They'll just focus all their efforts on their home console, which they've pretty much already done.
