Can Amiibos Have a LTD of 30mil By Years End? (5mil+ So Far)

Of course the first wave (well 2) have already started out and are probably the most popular in terms of characters, but still. Can Amiibos have 30mil LTD by years end? Less than 25mil to go...

Here is more info for your knowledge on Amiibo...

~SSB Amiibo Line consist of 48 Total Characters (Excluding Chances of DLC Characters)

~18 of Which Were Release as of 2014. (Other 30 Coming in 2015)

~Super Mario Amiibo Line Announced, Currently 6 Amiibos, but only 1 New Character (Toad)

Ya it's possible, with 3DS getting Amiibo support and more titles releasing that support it along with new waves every 1-2 months, I'm sure we will see sales remain strong.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Depends.

I think right now it's primarily the same group of people, hardcore Nintendo fans who are collectors who are snatching up the figures. I see the same guys staking out stores for shipments constantly.

Once the Smash wave 4 or 5 or whatever is over ... y'know I dunno. By then most major Nintendo characters will have their amiibos and maybe saturation starts to set in.

To really drive adoption of the toys I think eventually they need to have a game that really uses them in an integral way, not just as a bonus/side thing.

Right now I actually don't think it's kids buying them for use in the game (like Skylanders). It's mostly adult Nintendo fans buying them for the sake of collecting them.

Nintendo needs a dedicated game for amiibo. Sales will skyrocket once they finally step up their game.

Difficult to say. At the moment I'm going to have all Smash Amiibo. But I'm not sure - besides Toad - if I'm collecting the Super Mario ones too.

Maybe the numbers go up due to the fact that the supply situation in NoA territory will get better.

On the other side: nobody knows what numbers Nintendo is expecting. Do they NEED to have sold 30 mil at the years end?

Its going to be interesting to see what Nintendo will reveal this E3...

It depends on:
A.) How much they spread out each wave of Smash amiibo
B.) How many more lines of amiibo they release
C.) How many more games they integrate amiibo into
D.) If they release an amiibo-centric game

It's definitely possible.

I don't know but I have a anecdote to tell to make up for saying so!

I was at my local Target store, checking if they happened to have a GCN-Wii u cables when suddenly I saw a little kid and his mom pass by the amiibo section. The kid pointed at one and say "Mario!" most likely with eager anticipation in his eyes. Unfortunately for him, his mother said, "No."

Oh shit. Amiibo are doomed.

I think so... Unless Nintendo fails in shipping that badly

If Nintendo spaces them throughout the year and advertise them appropriately then yeah. These things sell like hotcakes and honestly I don't know why. What's so special about them and what EXACTLY do these things do anyways?
