Nice edit, before it ended at Intel's leadership and I will reply to that: No, they won't. If you want performance, go Intel. Mobile processors will have to go a long way to get where CPUs are now with pure power. But the advantage of ARM is that the chips are accompanied by dedicated silicon for special purposes, fixed function units.

Energy efficiency is of course a different topic.

I wanted to give an example to make my post more entertaining. It's not like edited something embarrassing out  Intel is making huge investments to make their processors more power efficient too. I am not talking their leadership in the high end market. I am talking about the cheap or mid range laptops manufacturers that may want to make the switch to qualcomm processors for example when they become powerful enough. Which doesn't seem that far. Intel will have new powerful competitors eventually, and that's exciting!

One major disadvantage of ARM is that it is ARM. It is not x86 which means a lot of software is not available for ARM, leave aside Windows (well, MS tried at least with Windows RT but we know has this went...). Apple could change this in their micro ecosystem with their iOS and universal apps but the pricing from Apple is too high for the low and midrange audience.

I get it. You don't want an iPhone. I didn't want either until recently. The world doesn't revolve around me. I was happy with my Nexus 5, I am happy with my iPhone 6. I completely understand why people are buying them in bulks. It's not hard to get. Let's just drop it here. I am tired of repeating myself.

In a more interesting topic, mid ranger phones are rising in popularity and quality, can we talk about that instead?

Soon enough they will be good enough for most people. Apple will have to engage in the mid range war sooner than later. Miscrosoft is the best candidate to win the mid-range war imo. Look up the Lumia 730, fantastic phone for a fantastic price. Thanks to Qualcomm new, cheap but excellent processors. 2015 and 2016 will be interesting to watch. Despite Apple's fantastic numbers, the premium market will start shrinking and mid range phones will be the next game changer.

In another mroe interesting topic. Mobile processors are advancing very fast. It will be interesting to see if they progress fast enough to threaten Intel's leadership. Look up apple's a8x processor that's powering the iPad air 2. Fantastic perfomance with fantastically effcient energy consumption. I can't wait to see what the A9X will be capable of!

None of these things REALLY matter, the iPhone is the 'in' product. The reason why everyone and their mother has an iPhone isn't because they check out the benchmarks, or compared other camera's in low level lighting (Z1/2/3 and S4/5 are the best smartphone camera's I've seen) or care about app data privacy etc. They are bought because they look pretty (design of the phone and UI) and are popular. Lets keep it real, even if it was a tiny bit faster than the 5s but looked the same as the 6 and 6+ do it would've sold pretty much the same.

I was just responding to people implying the iphone is vastly inferior to the competition and its success is undeserved, which is false. It's true that the "cool" image Apple painted for the iPhone plays a major part in its success, and there is nothing wrong with that. But it's important to note that Apple also makes sure that the iPhone isn't just "cool" , but it's also great.

It’s a great phone, they just need to work on key features like battery life, more RAM for multitasking and more customisation. Upping the MP count would be great aswell considering the have great sensors and 4k recording natively would be a nice touch.

Hard to believe Apple was on the brink. I remember back in 04-06 I thought the only way Apple was to survive was to license OS X to Dell, HP, Toshiba, etc. etc. Boy was I wrong.

They were doing pretty in 04-06 because of the iPod already though. Back around 1997 though, yeah it looked like they were completely finished.

Bet Microsoft really is kicking themselves for not just buying them outright back then, lol. Hell, even Nintendo could've bought them outright back then.

That actually would have been a smart move on Nintendo's part. Apple was using Power PC hardware back then and Nintendo started expressing interest in it. Nintendo would have had Apple's hardware designers meaning that the GameCube probably would have looked more like the awesome Apple G4 Cube. Nintendo would have had Apple's marketing people. With Apple's acquisition of NeXT, the NeXT OS was in the process of becoming Mac OS X meaning that Nintendo would have been light years ahead of the competition when it came to developing operating system software for game consoles. Nintendo could have been light years ahead of the competition with online development. With Steve Jobs' relationship with Disney through Pixar, Nintendo could have easily had a way of having their own animated films made (assuming Jobs' would have remained with Apple through the acquisition).

The good part about all that is Nintendo would have unquestionably dominated the gaming market and would still be number 1 today. The bad news would be that such an acquisition would probably have meant the end of the Macintosh, no OS X, no iPod, no iTunes and we would have been in a dark age of Microsoft-dominated computing that probably would have lasted until now.

I wil have to, I've seen the Z3 recording in 4k with zoom comparisons to 1080p and it's fantastic. Also 4k Compressed to 1080p actually looks better than native 1080p, same pixel count of course but there's more information.

Z3 takes great videos and photos, but it lacks the optical image stabilization. Videos taken with iPhone 6 Plus and Note 4 are amazingly smooth. Note 4 is better because it's capable of shooting native 4K videos. iPhone isn't there yet.

True, that would be a massive bonus, I guess my steady camera holding hands give me a specific bonus. But it would be laughable if they don't implement it in the Z4 as it's intended to be a flapship for a year this time. (I don't know what they were thinking with the every 6 month cycle)
