Holy sh*t, they had a pretty good holiday season, guess bigger screens was all that people really wanted. 

Apple reported the largest profit ever recorded by a public company in the holiday quarter, mostly driven by sales of 74 million iPhones with an average selling price of $687. According to Cannacord, this meant Apple captured 93% of handset smartphone profits. Perhaps more staggering is that it claims Apple dominated on similar levels across the entire of 2014 — with 79% of mobile device profits.

Which is why it's genius that Nintendo is copying them.

Hard to believe Apple was on the brink. I remember back in 04-06 I thought the only way Apple was to survive was to license OS X to Dell, HP, Toshiba, etc. etc. Boy was I wrong.

They were doing pretty in 04-06 because of the iPod already though. Back around 1997 though, yeah it looked like they were completely finished. 

Bet Microsoft really is kicking themselves for not just buying them outright back then, lol. Hell, even Nintendo could've bought them outright back then. 

I'd give them congrats if they were doing anything good for the industry. As it is this just demonstrates to the competition that it's okay to extort every single last fucking penny from their consumers.

Microsoft bought part of Apple to keep them from going under so that they wouldn't be classed as having an OS monopoly and face being broken up.  If they had bought Apple they would have been broken up as a monopoly which would of defeated the purpose of buying Apple anyway.

I think MS' lawyers would've gotten them out of that anyway, but yeah they basically gifted Apple some money at the time for appearances sake. 

Anybody with change under their sofa could have bought Apple in '97... :-p

Also... IMO Microsoft or Sony is not Nintendos biggest Competition... it's Apple... they have taken more customers away from Nintendo Last generation than Sony and Microsoft COMBINED (They beat Nintendo in an area where it was undefeated for almost 30 years: Handhelds).
