Not according to reviews. They just sell more.

But reviews are reviews, made by reviewers. Apparently, the public action is what counts.

Whoope-do! These news make me so damn happy!

earlier this week Activision Blizzard passed Nintendo in Market Cap. Currently Activision Blizzard has a market cap of 15,89 billion, while Nintendo sits at 14,01 billion.

It's not the first game company to pass Nintendo though, earlier this year Electronics Arts flew by and now sits at 17,10 billion.

What does this mean for Nintendo? At first sight not much, stock value is always just a value that can completely change overnight. However it is interesting to note that in the eyes of many(including me) Nintendo still hold the most valuable franchise library in the bussiness. More importantly they are a hardware manufacturer to boot, and for two game company's to now have passed them raises interesting questions. At the very least it raises the question if Nintendo should release their software on more platforms, since the are clearly missing out on a lot of sales by keeping their games exclusive to limited platforms.

So what do you guys think, will this finally be a wake up call to investors and Nintendo?

I think if anything, it pushes Nintendo to "circle the wagons" or look to support itself even more.

Nintendo will be on its own little island, while these big companies deal with M$ony.  If M$ony is not careful,  for instance the EAs and Activisions  not liking the direction of their business, I can see  collusion type mergers happening that would really hurt M$ony.  Get ready for E-Action lol

Nintendo only has themselves to blame. Activision knows knows how to make and market games to the western audience. Nintendo refuses to bring Pokemon to home consoles. Nintendo refuses to make a true successor to SM64. Nintendo refuses to give Zelda voice acting and keep a more realistic look. Many, including myself, love Nintendo's franchises, but Nintendo doesn't see the difference between selling out and modernizing.

Activision knows how to destroy a franchise, put their hands in every jar of the developer and leave them with crumbs, and bleed every cent it can out of consumers. That's what they did with Destiny.

Market cap doesn't really mean anything that's just based on your current stock price and that changes on a daily basis.

Still Activision is a larger company than Nintendo, they have 7000+ employees whereas Nintendo is only about 5000. It's actually crazy how small Nintendo is.

You make a fair point overall, but I wouldn't use your bolded statements as examples of Nintendo's shortcomings. No matter how much we want a home console Pokemon and SM64 2, we shouldn't say that Nintendo is at fault for not releasing games that aren't even dismissed yet. Also, it's no question that their weakest factors are their hardware design, and marketing (including hardware naming). However, game design is what they're best at.

Although, I did want Zelda U to be the entry that made the "realistic" crowd happy so that a cel-shaded one after it wouldn't be a straight bad idea.

The Wii U is such a dud though that it's probably for the best they didn't waste a "realistic" Zelda on it anyway.

I have no idea, but I bet that 'toon graphics' isn't even an actual reason why people don't buy the games, even for the "fans" that claim they boycott the series for that reason.
