Forums - Music Discussion - How does it feel to know? (Taylor Swift Sales)

Yay! You're back! Well good for Taylor I suppose. I just checked out Style, and it's alright but not as great as her two previous singles - I found those excellent.

No, I said all I care to say.

Good talk

Believe it or not I'm not required to elaborate on every statement I make, however blank. I said about as much as you did anyway.

But I'll throw a few things that come to mind when I think of her output: empty, devoid of life and soul, robotic, vain, cliche... I like Justin Bieber more than I like her honestly.

While it is true that you don't need to elaborate, when you quoted me I assumed that would bring more to the table than simple contradictions. I'm glad you brought a little more in this quote, although I somewhat disagree with them in the context of both pop music and Blank Space (which I would like to ask, have you listened to Blank Space?). Once again, I am far from a TS fan, but Blank Space to me is different than most things that TS puts out and it does subvert some expectations of the music TS usually makes. Instead of being a love song or some silly "haters gonna hate" bullshit, its actually an interesting deconstruction of the character that some people have portrayed her as.

The song is catchy without being overly repetitive, it has some clever lyrics (of course, relative to other pop music) and it certainly doesn't insult the intelligence of its listeners (once again, relative to other pop music). When you say that you like Justin Bieber more than her, I feel like I can only laugh, as while that may be hyperbole, there really is no on more vain, cliche and empty than JB in the pop music scene, while TS tends to be one of the more likable music personas.

I'm glad for the industry, because high sales are good for most people involved in it. Though this is probably a reality check for her "stop pretending to be a goody two shoes while you have an average of 3 boyfriends per month and try to to fake your music as country when its pop"... And now she's doing pop and admitting that her relationships last less than a hot pizza in a room full of hungry kids, good for her!

Yeah, I admit I screwed up and I hope there's no hard feelings here. I don't have much time so I'm trying to keep the posts as short as possible while still typing something. I've heard Blank Space many times before and even gave it a critical listen before making my first reply to you and I could barely finish it. On Justin vs Taylor I still disagree however much it shocks you, Bieber is overhated IMO and Taylor needs moar hate lol. But they both inspire some very unhealthy fanaticism.

Anyway, ciao, and sorry for not saying much.

No probs...like I said, I'm not exactly a Taylor Swift fan so this discussion was more curiousity than anything

Meanwhile all the cool youtube artists (who produce, IMO, far better music) that I listen to can barely pay for their own equipment. :'C

Life's a bitch
