Why do people want Metroid so bad? And why is that franchise on a "hiatus"? Is it because or Other M?

Anyway, they're basically working on a new Metroid by now, but who knows for what console.

I wouldn't complain if there was never a new Metroid. Or Zelda. Or Mario. Or any game.

Games are interesting, but I am not addicted to them any longer.
