Since there is a thread for all eight generation consoles I decided to make one for the PS3 which so far has been selling decently this year.

Edit: Actually things are not really looking that good !!

Not bad ,ps3 price still expensive too



PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

This is what you get when you keep it at $250 for the model anyone wants. I mean X1 was about as cheap as PS3 if you count all the games bundled with it in the AC bundle. They should have it at least 1/2 the price of the PS4 at this point for the 500gb model, $150 250gb model, and $100 12gb.

Drop the 12GB model to $150 and increase sales. With numbers like these it'll be incredibly unlikely it'll sell 15 million units in next few years to pass 100m mark

well the PS3 is still 250 bucks and its 9 years old, maybe if it got another pricecut it could sell some more.

edit: yes im not counting the 12 gig model, because why would you buy that? maybe if you had a spare HDD then it make more sense...

I don't think anyone expect it to break the 100m mark anymore. Especially since Sony and tons of third parties announced that 2015 would be the last year they'd support the PS3. It'll be lucky to break the 90m mark.

Also, I belive that at this point on the PS3 lifespan Sony prefers to make more profit than selling more units.

As long as it is selling better than some current gen consoles everything is fine.

Sony are not dropping the price at the moment, it's still £190... which is shockingly high. I think Sony are ok with the sales drop off right now and are just trying to claw back some profit.

I think PS3 sales are doing ok considering how old the console is, but if they dropped the price by £50, it would certainly sell better.

Also, I belive that at this point on the PS3 lifespan Sony prefers to make more profit than selling more units.
