Easy solution dont buy this and next years same games(Fifa 15 and 16 etc.) and then you basically got yourself a 120bucks price cut for WiiU.
This month I bought a XBO with Sunset overdrive because the last 10 games I bought I bought discounted = 300 bucks to spend for the XBO.
Tbone, be cool. This thread feels dangerous for you.
Maybe I've been lurking in the wrong threads, but I don't know where this idea that Nintendo fans hate remakes has come from. I was under the impression that the brunt of the criticisms against MCC came from it not functioning properly at launch, and that the circumstances around the "definitive editions" -- releasing just a year after the past-gen versions, sometimes after the publishers had specifically said they weren't looking into current-gen ports -- were the cause of derisive remarks.
I fail to see how Iwata's statement here makes Nintendo fans appear any more hypocritical than they already did, if indeed they did. Nintendo fans love remakes. They've bought Ocarina of Time and Star Fox 64 and Donkey Kong Country Returns and Wind Waker and Ruby/Sapphire and soon they'll buy Majora's Mask and Xenoblade. Iwata's comments change nothing.

Regardless of whether or not they are year old ports; the fact still remains that Iwata seemingly thinks this will be sufficient for the 3DS this year, with it already looming over a very likely big decline yoy, especially since there won't be a N3DS in the West and no price cut. It's almost as if he doesn't care at all sometimes; not only have their ND's shifted focus back onto the 3DS again; but the main platform for their income will rely on semi-decent Japanese hardware sales and remakes to keep it afloat? It's a horrible, horrible plan at best. |
Aren't we supposed to shy away from making such sweeping generalizations, especially moderators of all people? And I really don't get where this Nintendo fans don't like remakes talk comes from, we have been buying remakes/remasters/ports for decades. Super Mario Advance series, Mario 64 DS, Ocarina of Time 3D, New Play Control series, Star Fox 64 3D, Links Awakening DX, Link to the Past GBA, Donkey Kong Country GBA, Metroid Zero Mission, Wind Waker HD, DKC Returns 3D, the upcoming Majora's Mask 3D, Xenoblade 3D, Classic NES Series, hell the entire virtual console.
When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

what? I don't recall a statement that 3ds would ONLY have ports and remakes from now. and the new 3ds is releasing on west next week.

I'm interested to see what these cheap software are? Maybe eShop bite-sized games?
It feels like this is a treading water strategy. But then again I guess I wasn't expecting a flood of N3DS only games that infuriates and fractures their user base.
As for Wii U they should have really considered adding GameCube games to the library too. Maybe even lower the prices of VC games to encourage sales. They also need to find a way to add the Square Enix games they got on the Wii VC to the Wii U. There's so many games they need to add to the library that they refuse to do.
WOW! That is a lot of misreading of my posts. I think I should just quit this thread. Feel free to PM me though.
