So the upper limit is 87.2m instead of 87.3m and that changes... nothing i'm afraid. 87.2m is still much higher than 86.4m. You can't keep saying one console is above another or that in 2014 the 360 outsold or outshipped the PS3 when nobody knows the 360's 2014 numbers or the PS3's 2012 numbers.

It doesn't even matter plus several people bought multiple 360s due to RROD so the sales were inflated.

Its true that both the ps3 and the xbox360 have yet to outsell the Wii for lifetime sales of total units in the market.

But on the other hand both the ps3 and the xbox360 are still selling at a much larger pace than the Nintendo Wii is, so in fact there is a slight chance that Sony or Microsoft system may in fact surpass the lifetime total sell through number of units in the market with the PS3 or the xbox360, which can even be both! Could in fact do it, because think about it for a min, playstation Now works on the PS3 along with Playstation VUE

Sony could in fact sell PS3's as a cable box of sorts for live TV streaming for Playstation Vie..because that's what Playstation Vue is over the internet live TV, no cable or Sat subscriptions needed for cable just internet!

With Microsoft though it may be harder to pull off than Sony can with the market life of end use, i think its more than enough as a cheap end console 2nd bedroom and playroom console choice in replacement for cheap entertainment but that of course both compete for those type of markets that many already have a Wii anyway.

i was one of the elite when it came to debating ps3 vs 360 in the WW weekly threads that we would get much faster back then and on VGC in general, lot of owning i did

that fact that we are debating this in 2015 over a couple hundred k should tell you that its over PS3 was supposed to pass the 360 back in 2010-2011 according to us and it didnt. they never went to 199 or even 249 during that time frame which is what it needed to pass the 360 in 2010-2011 sony also never made strides on great value holiday bundles either something that there still doing

even in general as a playstation fan from a gaming standpoint the 360 is the overall better console 95% of the multiplats were far superior on 360 way more than what we are seeing now with ps4 vs xb1 which is just a res difference, they had the better controller, better and quicker userface, better online, and was always advertised more. besides the RROD mishap and ps3s free online imo everything else the 360 did better

I think the 360 has edged out the PS3 with the recent shipment numbers. Of course, there is no solid proof that the PS3 did not take a slight lead over the 360 at some point in time but it may have happened too.

Basically tied despite:

Playstation entering the generation with a massive lead in mindshare, fully expected to destroy the competion and sell 120M+.

The 360 selling 49 million more units of software.

The 360 selling more pereipherals.

The 360 having a vastly more popular/profitable online service.

The 360 ending over $1 Billion ahead of the PS3 in profitability.

for you sure for everone else on here not so sure. I think most people don't really are about last gen anymore we all moved onto this one. In the end its practically a tie as no one had a dominate lead over the other.

Are you talking about Globally Globally or Globally on the US? Because im new around here, but i know how people swing around between both of them to please their arguments.

Wow I didn't know the bolded were true. The first one is mighty impressive when you consider how popular the "lots of 360 sales were RROD replacements" bullsh is around here. I think it was even mentioned a few times in this thread or the one that inspired this thread.
