For murder, I wouldn't do it. That's the easy answer but that's without any context.

If my friend was a father who killed the guy who raped/killed his daughter, then things would be different. I'd at least consider finding a way so he can plead self-defense.

I think it is wrong to lie but I will avoid saying anything if it means the difference between freedom and imprisonment. Except for intwntional rape, that has zero excuses.

I don't ask people's age when they ask me for a beer, but cigarettes if you are less than 135 centimeters is a definite no for me.

I'm pretty sure age limit is 16 for cigarettes here though.

Being close to this criminal, you'd be summoned to Court. Not saying anything can be seen as lying, as you already know he's the culprit.
