Forums - Sony Discussion - PS4 sales 2014 vs 2015 - Week by Week Comparison - UP 35,162 Units YoY

I was genuinely concerned that the PS4 might have peaked in its first year, but the release of Arkham Knight (when compared to the release of Watch_Dogs) in conjunction with the numbers shown here seem to be indicating that no such thing occurred.

Under the assumption that there will be a somewhat imminent price cut, a six year life span, an eventual slim model, reasonable legs, and no significant external shock (i.e. the NX doesn't take the world by storm), I am now actually reasonably confident that the PS4 will sell over 130 million LTD. I don't think it will sell as much as the PS2, but it will easily be the second best selling home console to date.

So after 26 weeks, its up about 13.3% YOY?
Without any price cuts yet.

Quite the impressive feat indeed JRPG-San. As you stated, this isn't including price cuts. I honestly cannot fathom when October and November come around. Should Sony offer a Dragon Quest Heroes bundle and a Persona 5 bundle, then that is going to be quite something; rolling off of the Taken King and Phantom Pain no less.

I had my predictions set at 125 LT. Even so, quite the success for Sony! If anything, that in itself is an achievement, as no other platform will have the century mark in sales.

If these figures are any where near accurate.. further proof that NO price cut will be needed this year.. Especially if SONY cut costs on the new less-power hungry model coming out soon.. This will be VERY good to keep bringing in the much needed money for Sony..

Predictions on 12/01/15 - Generation 8 Totals:

PS4: 85-95m
X1: 55-65m
WiiU: 20-30m

It is also up that much without taking into account the Japanese release making it like a -300k in March.

It's the games. The Order, Bloodborne, BF:HL, Witcher 3, Batman, and other titles helped move more consoles YTD. PS4 will lose alot of ground in September because MGS will not be able to sell consoles like Destiny did. I think we will see a.price cut this fall.

psn- tokila

add me, the more the merrier.

Good to know it's been steadily rising, though it only makes sense after some really great game releases so far this year.

MGSV might not, but the innevitable CoD and Battlefront bundles will do even better.
