Same thing I was thinking.  Just like Bayo 2. Would be day1 for me. Really enjoyed Dark2.

Nintendo doesn't fund Western projects unless they are farmed out Nintendo IP that their own teams are too busy to make (see: Luigi's Mansion 2, Metroid, Excite, etc.).

The last time I can remember Nintendo funding a Western original IP game was Geist in 2005, a decade ago.

That's not gonna change on Wii U since the prospects of something like Darksiders 3 breaking even on the Wii U are fairly dubious.

I'm not fully sure what constitutes a "Western project" other than a western studio makes it. So that would be DK:TF, released last year. Trying to pidgeonhole a a genre to if it's western or eastern is kind of bunk for the most part. The only real differentiating factor I can think of is in the RPG genre, splitting it into western rpg's and jrpg's, but even that is inaccurate as it isn't necessarily where they are from, but where they are taking their inspiration from historically.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

A year after initial release... On the smallest install base... lol.

If Nintendo funds it and helps with development like with Bayo 2 or Devil's Third, it could happen.

Actually it came out in August and was released on the Wii U in November because that's when the Wii U was released, and small install base didn't stop games from selling well on the PS4 and Xbox One when they released.

So no, it didn't release a year late.

Yup, you are correct. It wasn't a year later, it was still easily out of the launch window for the game, so even if it were a year or even two later it would have made little difference. Most games will sell the majority in their first month after release. There are of course exceptions to that, but as I said, majority.

You are also correct about the PS4 and X1, although the games that had parity, actually did have parity and shared launch windows. Unless marketing continues beyond launch and people are keept aware, sales will most certainly be lower. A good example of that is Shadow of Mordor. It did reasonibly well on both the X1 and PS4, but was pushed back on both the 360 and PS3 so even though those systems have vastly higher install bases, the game didn't sell well at all on either of them especially considering their install bases. That was only 1 and a half months after initial release.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

You may have heard today that Nordic games is remastering the Legend of Kay and bringing it to pc and wii u.

Could this mean that we will possibly get future nordic titles/ Darksiders 3?

A lot of people have ruled it out. But here's some additional things to consider:

-Vigil, the studio that worked on Darksiders 2, spoke highly of the WiiU and Nintendo.

-Vigil's lead artist, Joe Madureira is a HUGE Zelda/Nintendo fan. Take into consideration how much Darksiders 2 has been influenced by LoZ too.

-Vigil has disbanded since the THQ collapse. Some went to Crytek USA. But we know exactly how Crytek is doing right now. Guess where Vigil/Crytek USA was/is based? Austin, Texas. Not far from Retro Studios!

-Devil's Third producer/ex THQ vp Danny Boyle still seems active with Devil's Third on WiiU. Odd, considering he hasn't shown as much involvement with other projects initiated at THQ like Evolve or South Park: Stick of Truth

Amongst all this, I have a good feeling something from the Darksiders 2/THQ side of the world hasn't emerged just yet for WiiU. Talented devs without work but with proximity and genuine respect for Nintendo? Yeah something *has* to be up.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

If Nintendo funded it sure but why would they? They've got Zelda. Every little helps but that would be a poor investment in my eyes, DS is not a huge seller and part of the original appeal is that there are no/very few fantasy action adventure games on last gen consoles.

Also lol @ all the people using mental gymnastics to suggest that the Wii U would be a relevant platform for DS3.

Edit: Just realised this isn't talking about exclusivity, in which case I can see there being a Wii U version of DS3, but it wouldn't be exclusive. Wii U/PS4/X1.

I could see it happening. The only reason it sold worse on the Wii U was because it was a late port. Just like all the other third party games. Majority of the population already had it, so why buy it again when you get a new console.

Poor sales and lack of power.

Neither is true and the former was never mentioned as a factor when PS/Xbox were getting low sales.

DS2 sold poor on Wii U, theres no denying that. PS4 was never selling bad, X1 only dropped to wii U sales momentarily and is selling great now but most importantly, software has never had a problem selling on eitehr of those 2 system, even when X1 was at its worst.

No chance after this horrible Darksiders 2 Wii U sales... Hell, this game would have sold even better on the Vita.

I don't think you understand late port and "would have sold better on the vita". This game would have sold jack shit on the Vita. I'd like to remind you of the critically acclaimed piss poor port of Borderlands 2 on Vita? According to VGChartz, 390k which I can guarentee you is mostly from the bundle.  That did worse than every version. If the game was on Wii U it would likely would have sold more than the Vita version. No one likes gimped console ports on mobile platforms.

The game had frame rate issues on the Wii U and PS3, the Vita version would have to be so scaled back that it wouldnt be worth it. With the Legend of Kay coming there is a really high chance Nordic will see a lot of potential with the Wii U (I for one am getting this game). Also there has been about 9 sales in the past year in which Darksiders 2 has gotten front row seats to on the eShop.

Time to hang up the Vita flag man, The console is 3 years old in 19 days. ;)
