Yeah, I guess people are different when it comes to this too.  I know a lot of people feel graphics are a big factor in feeling immersed.  But personally I feel just as immersed in RE4 as I feel in Metroid Prime 3, Bioshock, or Mass Effect.  The graphics don't affect that for me.  But I also feel immersed in a good book or even one of those old text based games that have no graphics at all (that I still play from time to time).

mp3 was great I had to keep switching my controller setting. between the turning and aiming it was different takes getting used to.

Edit- I see tank controls already addressed in depth on page 2 :) Suffice to say, RE4 does not have them.  

I'd have to agree, shooters are better on the HD consoles. Wii is better for like mario games and maybe sports.

Well most people agree the controls are quite fantastic, moreso compared to the original, but everyone's entitled to their own opinions. Still, of course the graphics are gonna look bad compared to HD PS3/Xbox 360 stuff.. :s Geez.

I don't understand any problems with the controls. It's not a fast-paced action shooter, is that what you were expecting?

Never played any RE game before this one on Wii and I thought it was absolutely fantastic, and I usually don't even like shooting games.

RE4's controls were light years ahead of earlier RE controls, and the Wii port improved on that.

This isn't an FPS. Having to make a choice to fight or maneuver is a realistic way to add to the tension. Performing "run 'n' gun" tactics on mobs of enemies isn't what I think of as "survival horror". The old tank controls were abominable and the fixed cameras didn't help, agreed, but although I understand that RE4's controls may feel frustrating to someone coming from an FPS game, they are are not "horrible" or broken.

ROFL.  What you just described is exactly how the controls work in RE4!  You push up on the analog stick to move forward, and left/right to turn the character.  Precisely right.

Surprisingly many people thought that RE4 has different controls than previous titles of the series. But all that has really changed is the ability to freely aim at the enemies with the analog stick. Movement, run button, quick turn, menu, button to get the gun ready, still the same. I blame the change of the camera view!

In all seriousness, though, Entroper misunderstands what "tank controls" are, no doubt because the truth is too horrible to imagine for someone who has not experienced them.

I just double-checked that these are in fact the controls on the original Resident Evil:
1. The "up" controller direction is not up on the screen, it is forward from the perspective of the character.
2. "left" and "right" rotate the character.

You can imagine why those of us who suffered through these controls to gain access to the game reckon RE4 a monumental advance in control scheme.
