It will happen when 8K becomes the standard. MGS type game with 4 hours of 8K cut scenes would fill it.
When HD holographic video becomes reality 1Tb will seem like small change.

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

probably the next xenoblade next gen game

Tsubasa Ozora

Keiner kann ihn bremsen, keiner macht ihm was vor. Immer der richtige Schuss, immer zur richtigen Zeit. Superfussball, Fairer Fussball. Er ist unser Torschützenkönig und Held.

10 years in the future, I guess. By the time we'll be fully using 4k consoles.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

No one can afford to make a game that big.

Thanks for sparing me the keystrokes.

"You should be banned. Youre clearly flaming the president and even his brother who you know nothing about. Dont be such a partisan hack"

Not until HDDs are 10TB at minimum. Until then, even thinking about making a 1TB game would be insane, not only due to production costs, but also because no one would play it.

                                                                                                               You're Gonna Carry That Weight.

Xbox One - PS4 - Wii U - PC

8 and 16TB SSD's were announced as on the way last year from sandisk (will be insanely expensive when they first release (aimed at enterprises) but will rapidly decline in price as sizes continue to increase as SSD's aren't trapped by the platter density problems that spinning disks have. 1TB games should be feasible in the next few years on PC. not till at least next gen for consoles obviously. production costs would not be insane for a 1TB game as it really would all just be art/graphics in 4k/8k formats, distribution costs are another matter though and that will more likely be the limiting factor not production or storage.

I doubt any game will be that huge this gen

Safe to say: never ever. Gaming is going to end very soon. Back to playing with sticks and squirrels in very few time.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.
