I know they rely on third parties to sell consoles, but why did they approve of broken games like Assassins Creed Unity get released? Do they beta test the games before release, or do they just let games get released?

Bet with Xander XT:

I can beat more games on his 3DS than he can on my PSVita in a month. Loser has to buy the winner a game on his/her handheld Guess who won? http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=193531

What reason do they have not to release it? Clearly they are not getting blamed by people for releasing broken games, instead the developers/publishers get blamed for it, so they might as well release it. And I don't even think they have the rights to beta test the game anyway.

Because that tells conpanies to just release a unfinished game and put in the rest as patches. After all, no will stop them, and the fans will still buy the game. And that will make many games unfinished releases.

And that's pretty much exactly what is happening right now.

Sony released DriveClub last fall, Microsoft released Halo: Master Chief Collection last fall.

Yeah, they're getting influenced by their own lapdogs.

Thats not Microsoft and Sony's problem. They aren't spoiling anyone. Thats a problem Ubisoft needs to fix. They don't own third parties so they cannot tell them how to release their games.

Nobody is blaming MSFT and Sony. That is the publisher's fault, in this case Ubisoft

You can blame MSFT on MCC and Sony on Driveclub but not for Assassin's Creed

That is an interesting thought...I know with digital games at least, Nintendo checks them and if they find bugs, the games get rejected and have to be resubmitted. I don't know how the system works for physical games though.

They were crying over Nintendo iron fist rules (Nintendo controlled the output of titles per year & their quality) back in the day, they left for Sony which let them do as they want, Nintendo had the "Seal of Quality" & it meant something when a game had that seal, now most games games deserve a "Seal of Crappy".
Fortunately when I see a game with Nintendo on it, I know it means quality!

We need to go back to a time when the hardware companies had the third party devs under their control.

Example: Remember when the Nintendo Seal of Quality actually mattered? They actually made an effort to keep bad games off their system by intimidating the devs and limiting them to a few games per year.

No more broken releases, no more Day 1 DLC, no more massive post-release patches that shouldn't have needed to exist in the first place.
