Forums - Nintendo Discussion - 3DS successor launch titles?

So most people seem to agree that the 3DS successor will release in the next couple years, I would say Spring 2016 at the earliest and Spring 2017 at the latest. If this time frame ends up being correct, what will the big launch titles be?

3DS had a pretty poor launch window, the biggest launch title was Nintendogs+Cats and went on to have a pretty big drought where Ocarina of Time 3D was the only big release for about 6 months. That on top on a high launch price really hurt early 3DS sales. If Nintendo wants their next handheld to come out with a bang, they will need a strong launch window.

I think the next handheld will release in Q2/Q3 2016 with Animal Crossing and Luigi's Mansion 3 as the big launch titles.

If they have Pokemon as the launch title there's nothing they have to worry about.

A mario game and Pokemon would be enough.

Mario + Pokemon + New Blockbuster IP

That's not how IP works.

IP stands for intelletual property. Both Mario and Sonic are seperate IIPs. So if you combine them you aren;t making a completely new UP. Just combining two already made ones

I'm not combining the IP's.

I merely meant, I think there will be a Pokemon game, a Mario game and New Blackbuster IP at the launch of the 3DS successor.

Launch - Late April-June 2016 (Japan)

Animal Crossing
F-Zero
Third Party Stuff

July 2016

SMT x Fire Emblem (also on Wii U)

August 2016

Super Mario Galaxy 3

October 2016

Luigi's Mansion 3
Monster Hunter 5

Nov/December 2016

Mario Kart 9

Animal Crossing for day 1. Mario Galaxy 3 to kill any 'post-launch drought'. I think it will make they have a really strong launch this time, that's one thing they can control and I think they learned some very bitter lessons with the 3DS and Wii U about that. Can't f*ck around this time.
