Would fap if that was the case!

You'd fap regardless

OT: I doubt it. The next game will probably release in 2018 at the earliest and I suspect Nintendo's next console to release in 2017.

While I think Xenoblade could be a very powerful franchise, it being a launch title is pretty impractical given the scale. Zelda, Mario, and Metroid are all more likely launch window candidates; substantial enough to impress but not nearly as difficult to develop.

Monolith Soft rushing a game to launch would cheapen their talented expertise

Probably announced at the same time but not coming for a couple years later.

5 years? Hot damn, I doubt that's the case, and even if it is, they probably mean conceptual development, things like story, game design, pre-production stuff. I guess that it really depends on how well this one does, and how fast will Nintendo will give them the consoles' specs to start working around it.

I'm now filled with determination.

No way, I don't think Monolith would rush a game, and a JRPG is not what Nintendo need for the launch of their next console so I'm sure Monolith will take all the time they need for their next project.

But why would it take less time the next time around? They'd still have to learn a new system like they did with Wii U, and if they just recycled current gen assets, they would kill a lot of the wow factor the series is known for.

You didn't read the OP at all, did you? they wouldn't be hindered by HD development anymore. and I'm not saying they would re use every asset, just keep the engine and basic stuff to make it faster. the final product would still look much better than xeno X. and remember nintendo said the next system would incorporate wii u's architeture.

Actually I did read it.

A higher grade of hardware would still require them to adapt to a new level of graphics and complexity. Unless you expect their next system not to be a huge leap over Wii U technically? Which actually wouldn't surprise me if they do go for the Fusion concept.

Even on the Wii, the first Xenoblade was in production for years. There's no way a third on the level of XCX or above could be finished before 2018, and there's no way Nintendo is waiting until 2018 to replace Wii U.

Before we even factor in learning the new console's ecosystem and such, the next game in the series is obviously going to be bigger and more complex, just the task creating and building large scale games like this would easily take 3 years minimum and I'm going to predict we'll see the first next gen in 2018 which leaves not time at all to get the game out. Zelda U was in development while they were finishing up SS and that has still taken 4 years and counting to put things in perspective.

I already said like 3 times that early 2018 would still be launch window for the next console. I also explained why they could make a new one in 3 years instead of 4. and what "new graphics and complexity" are you thinking of? you can't go far from where xeno x is, more polygons overall and higher resolution is the most I can think of.

not 4 years and counting, just 4 years. and like monolith's X, zelda took longer due to HD development. and what makes you think the next game will be/need to be bigger? look at the size of xenoblade x, the next one could be a little smaller/bigger and no one would care.
