The new system will be out in 2017 or 2018 and the next xenoblade won't be out untill 2019 assuming that their is another. I hope XCX is a commercial success to ensure that  future installments are made.

it was 4 years, wich means they can make another in 3 years.

5 years from the release of Xenoblade on Wii to the release of X on Wii U. Why would the new game have a shorter wait than this one? They'll need to learn the new system, like they had to learn Wii U.

And besides, 3 years would still mean a 2018 release, I'm pretty sure Nintendo's next system will launch before that.

It'd be awesome if it happens, but the production demands of a game like Xenoblade makes it highly unlikely in my assessment.

It's less than 5 years, closer to 4 if they didn't start xeno x right away. And I also mentioned launch window (early 2018), read the OP.

But why would it take less time the next time around? They'd still have to learn a new system like they did with Wii U, and if they just recycled current gen assets, they would kill a lot of the wow factor the series is known for.

Nope. Unless they can make it in 2 years.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

The launch title for Nintendo's next console will be a 3D Mario. I'd be cool to get a Xenoblade, but I can't see it happening.

Couldn't the whole "absorbing the Wii U architecture next-gen" like Iwata mentioned help with development?

You didn't read the OP at all, did you? they wouldn't be hindered by HD development anymore. and I'm not saying they would re use every asset, just keep the engine and basic stuff to make it faster. the final product would still look much better than xeno X. and remember nintendo said the next system would incorporate wii u's architeture.

I hope not because that would almost certainly mean that there won't be another 3d mario game for wii u. SM3DW was a very good game but on it's own it can't compare to the two galaxy games that wii got.

I agree it would suck, but Tokyo EAD all but confirmed that development for a new 3D Mario game is being done with a new console in mind. I liked 3D World, but yeah the Galaxy games were way better. Anyway that's why I'm saying I think it'll be the launch title for Nintendo's new console. Personally, I'd love for a new Zelda to be a launch title, but realistically I think it could be an HD remaster of either TP or SS.

They just spent nearly 5 years make X, how are they supposed to have a third ready in time for the next system?

True, and that's if they start on it DIRECTLY after Xenoblade X. I was kind of hoping for a Baten Kaitos U (a smaller jrpg which they could get out before the end of the Wii U). Just like Nintendo, Monolith Soft should really explore their lesser known IPs. They could reuse assets and the game engine for this as they did Xenoblade X and I would be perfectly fine with that.

They need to launch with a SM64 like Mario game. That would be much bigger.
