Forums - Gaming Discussion - Pewdiepie Complains against Nintendo Youtube Policy

Would it be right if he streamed copyrighted music or movies on his channel without the content creators permission? He would still be "advertising" the media but he's obviously getting profit that he shouldn't since he's giving product away for free, even if he shrieks over some parts. Yes, it is giving it away for free, games audio and visuals are a huge part of the package, and just because you aren't controlling doesn't mean you aren't getting most of the product. This is more than fair from Nintendo and I'd be shocked if others don't follow suit. Would people watch his channel if he just showed his face only with no gameplay or sound? Seems to me he should be grateful he's been able to profit so much when he's semi-pirating media for others to watch. I for one would applaud if game companies could choose who plays there games for YouTube, we'd probably have great clips like Conans Clueless Gamer.

Love him or hate him the guy has a massive following. People watch him cause its him not cause he may be playing a Nintendo game, and the fact is that he is doing Nintendo a favor by giving them exposure not the other way around.

Except he doesn't. This won't affect Nintendo fans.

And its thinking like that that's got Nintendo in the hole they are in today.

A lot of good Nintendo fans have done for the WiiU so far, if I were Nintendo u would be doing everything I can to get as much eyes on my products as possible.

He's not worried about himself... He's trying to support other smaller channels because his voice is actually heard.

There is nothing wrong with Nintendo claiming their intellectual properties. If this was a form of promotion other than maybe a review of a game while showing a bunch of gameplay it would be different. But it isn't. These people are taking a product and infringing on the IP's, same goes for Sony, MS, Ubisoft, EA, Activision ect. In an attempt to allow these people to continue to do what they are doing it is quite natural for what is happening to happen.
Normally when an IP is featured or shown it is by consent, with youtube that has almost completely went out the window till the last few years. Especially since gaming and movies are a viewing medium, it is well within their right to do this. They do see that there might be some positives in it which is why they are allowing it to happen.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

If game companies could choose who plays their games on YouTube or reviews their games on websites, we'd probably have only kiss-assing content on the web with no critiquing opinions at all, even if it is constructive criticism.
