Forums - Sales Discussion - Why The hell people were saying console games were going to die this gen ?

They were so wrong. Gaming is in its biggest momentum ever! Console games selling great, software selling even better, smartphones games making huge money from in-app purchases, China MMOs, Latin America and Asia turning every year more and more relevant, the advantages of a stronger currency selling in Europe and UK, pc gaming getting a stronger following thanks to Steam pricing.

My cousin never liked games, she is addicted to Candy Crush now, and now those casual smartphone games instead of stealing consumers from consoles are expanding it. And I don`t even blame smartphone and tablets for Wii U failing, I blame this strange tablet game pad that isn`t the wiimote.

Cause Flappy Bird was the greatest game ever made but its mobile exclusive so consoles are doomzed

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

You want to know why?  because analysts looked at the game publishers making $60 games smaller while sticking in more DLC and microtransactions and thought "there's no way the video game buying public is stupid enough to swallow this shit!"

Unfortunatly the more DLC and microtransactions there is the more the moronic public laps it up and begs to be fucked up the arse harder.

Because they don't play games and don't know the difference between consoles and phones. They underestimated serious gamers who wants something more than Candy Crush

This isn't something I hear too often, but sometimes I hear consoles will die out at some point and will all eventually just be downloadable games you can get on your smash phones and small carrying devices, or they'll be played thru the cloud. Other than that, I don't hear people say this often. Hopefully consoles and handhelds still stick around for a good while longer.

Maybe because of many video game companies not posting profits.

Because these analysts and journalists (lol) get their money on clicks and nothing gets those clicks like dooooooom. Also, it's easier to sell "analysis" to companies in times of "crisis," so manufacturing onewas advantageous.

No one should have fallen for it either. Haven't we learned long ago that these analysts are about as accurate as crystal balls and fortune cookies when it comes to anything meaningful?

7th gen was the peak for consoles. Total console sales will never be that high ever again.

Some people just like dooming things. Look at PC gaming that's been doomed for like the last 20 years yet is now stronger than ever...

Stronger than ever? Musta be kiddin. When i look at the games i've played on PC lately i see... stagnation. No wait, regression.

Console games are still improving. Pc just reached the limit too early and there is not much more it can do considering the resources required to hit those heights.

that's assuming ps4 doesn't outsell the ps2
