Nintendo in the past has been known to be very strict when it came to usage of their games and other copyrighted material in online videos such as Youtube.  Recently, they released the beta for a new Creator's Program that will share ad revenue between the content creators and Nintendo.

A short quote from the article:

"In the past, advertising proceeds that could be received from videos that included Nintendo-copyrighted content content (such as gameplay videos) went to Nintendo, according to Youtube rules," the company says.  "Now, through this service, Nintendo will send you a share of these advertising proceeds for any Youtube videos or channels containing Nintendo-copyrighted content that you register."

The share is set at a 60% for content creators and 70% for those with channels dedicated to Nintendo related content.

Thoughts?

I think it's too early to tell. It's only in beta right now and they have chance to fix any unexpected problems before the final version.

Its a step in the right direction but not quite there yet hence why its called a Beta.

I think what most people would rather have is 90% instead of 60/70% cause thats what most other networks offer for youtube ad rev. And the fine print is a bit ehh and I think it will make some people a bit worried about it. But overall, certainly a step in the right direction but they need to revise some stuff if they want to be more competitive. Least its not like Sega where they shutdown youtube channels for showing their game

It's better than nothing. I think they should be a little more lenient, but hey, this is a good step in the right direction. And it's still in beta, so it can change for the better.

Well Angry Joe will be 60% less angry now. So, not sure if good or bad but step in the right direction.

The real question is how much do people get from ad revenue with the xbone and ps4 respectively? That's the only comparison that really matters.

Outside of the frightening precedent this could set, it all comes down to the fine print. Depending on how some of the more ambiguous bits are interpreted, the limitations are either merely annoying or utterly crippling. Needs to be seen in action, but either way I find it distasteful.

I know some people who will be very unhappy with this lol but hey 60/70 is better than nothing.

What ever happened to people appreciating the hard work someone does and pay for it. One REASON I'm Big Nintendo fan is their business practices, I do not get why everything needs to be out there and free to use.
